Goose Lake Trail | Red River, NM

We spent the last week of June in Red River, NM. While I didn't take the truck we rented two Jeeps and ran the Goose Lake trail. What you experience at the end is breathtaking. The trail is moderate and requires 4x4, the stock Jeeps handled it without issue. It begins with a water crossing that I unfortunately have no pictures of, however here are the rest:

I was up there just about 2 weeks ago now. I absolutely love it! Thanks for the trip report! Did you get rained on?

We will be headed up that way soon. Anything you'd recommend we see/do while we're there? I see you ran sans windows on the Jeep. Were the temperatures comfortable at the higher elevations? I've contemplated dropping the top (maybe doors, too), but I've also got a wife and kids to think about. ;-)

Thanks for sharing -- it looks like a lot of fun. Beautiful area, too!

The temps going up were mostly in the 60's I believe, it was a beautiful day. We got into some rain/hail on the way back down but overall the weather was perfect. Definitely take your fishing gear, and you can also hike to the peak. I had my wife and 11 month old daughter. It was a very bumpy ride but our daughter actually slept practically the whole ride up.
