This is a rad thread. Thanks for taking the time to post up. I would vote for a piano hinge too, maybe some of the rear door hinges from the tear drop trailer market would make a good candidate?
Thanks, 1 step forward 2 back, but if we work hard this weekend we'll be back to where we were a couple weeks ago. Haha! This is a rad thread. Thanks for taking the time to post up. I would vote for a piano hinge too, maybe some of the rear door hinges from the tear drop trailer market would make a good candidate?
Thanks man, me too. We caught it in time. Kelsey removed the headliner and melted insulation and already had it back in. I cut off a few pieces we welded on to align the new hinge. Gotta love the aluminum dust!Wow, yes great thread thank you for sharing. I bet that got the adrenaline going, scary. Really happy to hear it didn't burn more. I'm sure it could have been much worse. Getting some great ideas from this. and I second the excitement on this already is very good.
Thanks, it's long gone.perfect
how much for the alucab awning?
Thanks Gordon!Great progress! I still can't believe you scored a CampTeq, glad to see it getting fixed up and put back to use. As always, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Dennis!Lookin' good!
Thanks Lance, I'm trying to figure out how to handle stickers etc while we're gone. I have some stickers for you!!You guys are cruising along getting Goose ready to fly....
Can't wait for the updates from the road, promise you won' fade to black once you are traveling!
Those of us who like you 2 want a way to buy some gas or beers along your travels.
Agreed, I hope it holds up. It did cut the glare of the bare aluminum which was one thing I wanted. I went with it after looking at the arms on the 1600 car after a few races and it was still holding up despite the sand blasting those parts get. On a buddies car the only spot it was bare metal was where he rolled it. It seems to rub off rather than flake. Interesting stuff!Curious how you guys will like the Steel-It. Seems like tons of folks in the off road racing world use it and like it. I'm interested in the long-term durability of it. You two will probably be good canaries in the mineshaft to test that.

Thanks man, I think we got it sorted with a heavy duty piano hinge, but I'll be watching it like a hawk and trying to abuse it for the first few trips just to make sure I trust it. I'm down to grab a beer and hear those aviation ideas though! I'd like to have a backup plan in place.Lookin good man. Did you get the hinge fasteners sorted? I had some aviation ideas that might be worth considering if you still need a solution.
