GoPro Mounts UG ~ the weak link

OK hate to loathe about a product that I truly adore, but the GoPro mounts are the weakest link of the system

these little cameras are truly amazing, but the mount issues are appalling

I'm not the only one that complains, hundreds of complaints if you look

I tired of replacing new mounts & cases, 2 new cases in 2 years with light service

tried to epoxy the broken tab at the bottom of the case 2 weeks ago, which works to some degree, but for how long

it still has some flex to it & I had to drill out the hole from the epoxy a bit

here are my cell pics of my attempted repairs, hopefully they show you

latch broke here, this one is holding oddly enough



also really sick of these stamped & inserted nuts falling out when you are moving things around, so I epoxied around the nut too



decided to break down & order a complete new case again & be done with it last week & here it is, the better way to go

check out these guys line up. lots of aluminum mounts and bolts so you don't have to worry about breaking plastic. not sure if they offer anything for housings as i haven't looked in awhile

you can also try smatree. they've been great with hooking me up with a few things recently.

i don't think i've seen much that lets you omit the plastic housing yet. haven't looked too deeply into it though since i have yet to have any issues with the 3 gopros i have and their numerous housings

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the cases and mounts I have had every version of the go pro since the beginning. I have mounted these camera's on many aircraft, dirt bikes,street bikes and helmets. I have yet to have any failures with cases and mounts.(Except helmets hitting dirt or asphalt and breaking cases) I have had battery issue's from the beginning. I have also had software issue's that have more or less been fixed. Next week I am getting the newest version and will see how it works. I have tried a lot of small camera's like the go pro and always come back to it. If you look there are not to many camera's that have the same versatility and mounts available.
