Got My Waffle Boards Today

Got home today and had my Terra Trax Waffle Boards sitting on the front porch.

I have been looking for Sand Ladders for years, but always found them to be prohibitively expensive here in the states.

Although I saw the aluminum ones at OKOffroad, but I thought that the aluminum might be too soft/flexible for use as bridging. I saw the fiberglass ones there too, but they seemed a little $$$$$$.

I saw the factory demo ones for sale on ebay, so I thought I would give it a shot. >>>www.terra-trax.com

These things are beefy, definitely beefy enough to use as bridging.

We definitely could have used them in the sleet storm at Hollister a few weeks back!

Now all I have to do is figure out how to secure them in the bed!

Those look like a good thing for a stock height 4x4 to carry. Looks like that's why they originally made them.

Can you say removable roof rack flooring? As often as they would be needed, the rack could be unloaded if needed.

I was looking for the Terra-Trax site online and it seems as if they are not there any longer. Do you have any information, I am very interested in the product.
Thanks,
Steve

Glad to see that you enjoy your sand ladders. www.Terra-Trax.com is back online. Still the best price for sand and bridging ladders.
Thanks

We had those in Africa.

Please provide more technical information.

The span is 48"

What is the max load at center and the amount of deflection?

Thanks so much and welcome to the portal!:wavey:

Update- Got a 51k lbs semi unstuck today

Jayheats,

A friend of mine drives a auto transport and last night he parked in ground that was quite a bit softer than he would have liked.

He called me this am to help him get unstuck.

I was a bit reluctant to attempt to pull him out with the Tacoma, ,so we used the waffleboards and bingo out he went.

A note to anyone using them, if you are using them for traction in a loose surface, make sure you tie a rope or strap to them, mine was buried from the weight of the tractor-trailer.

Pics to follow!

Somewhere along the way (I thought it was here), I checked out some links from companies that make commercial Fiberglass grating - it appears to be the same stuff as the bridging ladders, and sometimes you can find remnants that they will cut to size to be used as sand ladders.

That terra-trax price is not too bad, though - it may almost compare to one of the commercial plants, and a lot easier to get exactly what you need.

I took a $20 rubber traction mat (just the flooring stuff they sell at Home Depot) to the beach with me. Didn't have to use it - it looked like it would work, but man, those things smell like poorly-cured rubber forever ...

I'll have to save up some pennies for the terra-trax - looks like a good deal.

Just wondering if anyone had anything to say about the Terra-trax waffle boards. Thinking about getting a set since my sierra is pretty long, just wondering if they would be useful for a vehicle with a long wheelbase to get over obstacles or if they would be awkward and slip and slide around?

Anyone else notice that the Tera-Trax and Okoffroad webstites are both using the same picture of the 110 with the tracks strapped to the roof?
Looks like one or both of them just photoshopped thier logo onto the door of the 110! This implies that they are both the exact same product but at different prices $200 vs $250...
