Looking good Greg.

Do you have any idea what the letters in the center of the scepter cans mean? One reads CA. The other reads CA
POL. If i am seeing it correctly.

Scepter is a Canadian company and CA probably just relates to that, since the country code for Canada is CA.

The POL is Petroleum, Oil & Lubricant.
That's a standard military acronym, means anything related to fuel, grease, oil.

example, the guys who load fuel on planes are called POL Airmen.

Correct Mark... the ones I have are not the standard Scepter cans. I picked mine up from a surplus place online in Canada for $25.00 each IIRC, they were CDN military surplus, and came with a nice layer of very light brown mud all over them. They both needed new lids and Viton gaskets for Gas, so by the time all is said and done I am into them for about $10.00 less than new...oh well. I tried right? One lid was cracked from shipping, one just needed a new seal and straps...so I just bought new and have some spare bits.

All in all they are good, and I am sure will serve me well in their military retirement.

I installed a custom (pre-production if you will) 3 axis receiver hitch for my CDN M101 trailer. Going to do some testing today! This thing is great, and no details on availability or price, these are new NEW so all that is still in the works. Also worked on the design for my removable mud flaps to keep the crud off of the trailer.

I also finish painted my Detours Tailbone tire swing-out with the new support for the gas can. Cant wait to re-mount it on the XJ... not trailer related but still related.

Stoked.

That looks really good! Now go find some off camber stuff and let's us know how it works out, not too off camber we don't want that pretty trailer flipping!

Heh, yeah I hear you. When it is unloaded and the tent is on the roof it is a little top heavy.

So I took it out for its first run with the new hitch assembly. While it is not DOT tested (yet) it is very well made, far superior to the cheapo stuff I have been towing with from Curt or any other stuff made offshore. The hitch is completely silent in operation, and tows like a dream. Backs up great, and no odd side slop/random direction changes like a Lunette can do. I am stoked. No off-road testing yet, that will come soon. My buddy up island has tested his however, and it looks to work as advertised in all conditions and on all angles.

More pics.

I wish I had a GoPro, I would take some vid. Also managed to get my rear tire swing out finished and re-installed. MAN that POR15 is some hard stuff when it has set up.

As you can see in the last pic, the new top diagonal tube and the small upright are in just the right spot for the custom made gas can holder I am mounting in the next week or so. way more stability and some surface to mount the can on...I like it. Cant wait to get that all on there!

I also worked with Wavebreaker to design the kitchen for the rear of the trailer. I am making (ok he is making) some counter tops, 37" long by 16" high that slot into some tube and then attach to one another in an "L" off the rear of the trailer. They double as load management dividers inside the tub and will slip into some channel attached to the inside of the tub. Hence the 37" length, it fits perfectly inside the tub from side to side. Dual purpose and very functional. Now all I need to do is pick up the Edgestar fridge I am looking at and get my hot water and on board water system in.

Oh man it never ends....

I need to hop on a ferry and hang out with you and Wavebreaker (OK mostly wavebreaker:)) Talk about a friend with benefits...

But seriously, We just sent off the passport applications for the kids and a visit to Victoria is coming in our near future.

Ha ha... be sure to send us a note before you come up!

I have family in Washington State, and go down pretty often. Mind you it is usually in the Caravan or the Grand Cherokee and not with the trailer. I think I will however head down that way soon with the trailer kit for a weekend. I spend time in Tacoma, whereabouts in WA are you located? West or east side of the mountains?

Yeah, Mike (Wavebreaker) is a great guy, and is a real craftsman. He has been not only an inspiration for much of this build (as has ExPo and a number of you on here) but he also has been the skills behind the wood bits and the welder! He made a lot of what I bolted on! lol

You should see his trailer up close...man, so nice.

You bet I read it... funny thing, I am also looking at the Eccotemp setup with a Flowjet or Shurflow pump. I am going to put in a 10-15 gal under tub tank with a skid-plate. Lots of room under there and even if I only end up with say 10 GAL, that in addition to the 2 x 5 GAL Scepter cans I have, that is a LOT of potable water holding.

I will check out your thread again, and thanks!

What a great job! Thanks for sharing :)
Have you thought of somekind of mechanical "help" to raise the lid once your tent is installed?

yes, gas lift struts going in soon. looked at some linear actuators ...may think about that again one day? for now a set of 250# struts will do the job.

thanks btw for the support all!

I just ordered and received the same coupler (not cheap); looks very beefy! Just not sure how easy it will be to align the hitch for hook-up. Looks like one has to be right on the spot!
