I just programmed in the local HAM and some marine frequencies into my regular 2m radios that I had already been using for SAR and 4x4 club stuff where we use commercial frequencies.
I only qualified as a HAM to supplement my SAR capabilities where I only really need 2m in my vehicle. HF porta packs for heli deployment are issued on the scene.
I'll upgrade to a proper HAM radio or three later when my ship comes in, the exchange rate kills us here.
First on the list I'd like a nice UHF/VHF cross-band repeater (Icom 2820 maybe) with a hand-held unit to match.

Todd,
I run the FT8800R in one Jeep and FT8900R in my Scrambler. Both are very capable radios. What type of Jeep are you running?

Dave in San Jose, N6XE... If the mobile is on in the Jeep, I scan some local repeaters and 2m/70cm national calling. If I want to call and see if anyone answers I usually do it on 146.520.

I'm usually on 20m when on the HF rig at home.

Rigs are Icom-207H mobile, IC-718 HF base, FT-7800 used for 2m/440 at home, and a VX-5R is my usual HT.

73s!

No rig yet, but I've been researching for a little while and that will change soon.

Woops, I didn't post up. Mostly on 2M but a little 220 and 440.
