I got my Tech ticket to expand my toolbox as a CERT (community emergency response team) member. Still goofing around with amateur radio to explore it's uses and build skills. I have yet to use it in direct application in travel or on trail. I certainly would rather use my 2m rig as a travel tool than during a Hurricane or the like.
