Help me to NOT fail

If you're going with other people I'd ditch the jumper battery and just make sure someone had jumper cables. Also, share a high lift jack with another vehicle, etc... It's awfully easy to overload a Jeep. It looks like you've made a pretty conservative list which is a plus, but every extra pound lost is going to make it easier on your Jeep.

Harbor freight has snatched blocks for like 30$ ya can't really screw those up. Some things from they're are worth the money others are useless even for a buck

You list is long. If you sleep in the Jeep will you have to unpack each night to make room? What about extra gas?

I have a TJ so space is more limited. I am not as serious about this as others and I am a minimalist compared to many others. My experiences are limited. I don't take a cooler, just water, MREs, caned food or whatever doesn't need to be refrigerated. Not having a cooler frees up space. I like smaller water bottles compared to a larger water jug or cans, they pack easier. Bring chairs so you can sit around the fire.

I think somebody mentioned it above but make sure you leave your route and time line with somebody so incase you have issues. This way people know how to find you. CB signals won't travel far but they are common. If you have an issue having a CB (make sure you list the channel you will use on the travel plan you leave) may help if people have to look for you.

First aid kit, map and compass?

Thanks! I haven't packed it up yet, you may be right. We'll do a dry run to see.
Been having the convo about gas. I can fit a rotopax on the Teraflex accessory mount, but I don't have one. Might need to add that to the list.

Thanks again!

Good points. My thought process was to use this LINK for power thru the night, heated blanket (I know, its for the wife...), phone charger etc. and not tax the JK.

Hi-lift mounts on the tire carrier and is out of the way. It's about 4 hours alone to get to the starting camp site and the standard jack doesn't work with the lifted Jeep. So I'd feel more comfortable keeping it on the list.

Thank you for the input!!

The pullys still not frozen haven't had to use it much but it hasn't broken yet still in good shape. You could honestly probably make one if you wanted to

I always have two ways to make potable water with me when I'm camping. Just in case. I carry the typical tablets and a Lifestraw. I also have at least two ways to make fire. Paracord, a few emergency blankets, Swiss Army knife are also in there among other things, but I think you've got those covered. Have fun!

I carry a lot of stuff in my 3B. a big tool box in the back that makes a good seat if needed. In the box it has all of the lubes and coolant, jacks and stuff that might be needed as well as a full set of sae and metric wrenches and sockets, treestraps, snatch blocks, Etc.
We were putting out to the Confluence Overlook and noticed we were missing Mike and family. we waited, Might have been a beer broken out, perhaps more than one. He finally got to us and he had lost parts off of his front driveshat in his CJ7, they found all of the attaching bits but the Ujoint was gone. Strange, I had two in the toolbox that fit. He was standing there with a beer and one of the bearing caps fell off into the dust. OK, second was used as well. You really don't need alot of extra junk with you. We were lucky we had the extra ujoints but his Jeep with an Elocker rear end would have done fine

I like this thread. I'll most def. be using it as a reference when I take solo trips, and even tandem trips.

As far as what I take:

Basic recovery stuff (Don't forget a shovel)
I have a craftsman toolbox that is portable
Extra fluids of each type (I might even swap from power steering fluid to atf-4 to reduce number of fluid types)
Food
Clothes
Way of communicating if I need it (Phone, CB, etc) Maybe as many ways as is practical if you're going to be way out.

Great story.
I know there's no way to plan for everything, but I want to be prepared as possible. And also be able to contribute to the group if needed.
Thank you!
