Does anyone have experience with the HEMA Ultimate US Atlas?

I have a rather old tattered atlas that is need of replacement and wondered if this one is worth the price.

I did buy one of these at Overland Expo and can say without a doubt it is the best Atlas I have used.

I picked one of these up from Rob from HEMA at SEMA and put away the GPS to drive from Pismo Beach, CA to my home near Washington DC. I know the route, but used it to map overall trip as well as check location and upcoming exits and services. I consider it the best road map I have ever used. It uses features such as the linier set up like in the European road maps. As opposed to switching to another map for each state. It's simple to move to the next page when traveling East-West or vise versa. It has highlighted interest stops along the route, and a comprehensive guide and visitors information to America's 'top spots'.

I highly recommend it for anyone as more than a back up to a digital map, but as an essental part of planning, traveling, or as a replacement for a GPS.

I bought one last March for the trip out to OX10 and used it exclusively. I enjoyed the same features noted in the previous post. Ended up saving me a few miles from what the GPS wanted me to do and took me along some more scenic routes with confidence.

I'll echo the sentiments from above - it's without a doubt the finest atlas I've ever owned. It lives permanently in the Power Wagon, and is my primary resource for long distance travel.

For those that have one - are the pages laminated? Or at least a decent weight paper? I couldn't find any info one way or the other on HEMA's website.

They appear to be high quality heavy weight paper. Calipers measure it at 0.006 thickness.

It is the only atlas I use now. This decision was made once I found out that the vast majority of roads shown in the atlas are created from actual GPS tracks- impressive.

I use it - and like it too. Bought mine from Amazon - free shipping, couldn't beat it.
