Hi Mileage Tundra? Owner Opinions Wanted

On stuff luck that the biggest annoyance is downtime. When one thing in the "area" needs to be replaced I just have the mechanic replace all the wear items while they are in there.

I've done that for years...haha. It's a little pricy at times, but it's saved me countless headaches down the road. Its how you justify a 4" lift kit to your wife when all you realy need is shocks and ball joints... Haha.

On my Tundra, I went from the OEM Michelin ATs to the Nittos and yes, there was about a 3 mpg loss going to the bigger, heavier Nittos.

So you averaged over 19 mpg hwy with the Michelins? I went from the Bridgestone street tires in 255/70r18 (32x10) to Hankook ATMs in 325/65r18 (35x13) and the mpgs are at least as good overall. Better at low speeds and a little worse at 75 (but that's only ~16 mpg with either tire). Thinking the Bridgestones must really suck....

Yes, I was averaging that with stock tires on my tundra.

If I remember correctly, I think the mpg on my 2008 4runner went up a smidge when I went from the OEM Bridgestones to the Hankooks as well.

19mpg tank Average with the 5.7 and 5 speed?
He said 5.7 earlier I think. It's a 6 speed auto... don't think they ever had manuals on 2007+ Tundras. 19 mpg would be an outlier but not unheard of if you are easy on the pedal and don't drive too fast. And Michelins tend to have low rolling resistance.

Thanks for the tire discussion as well here...I'll prolly need to get new tires before towing out TT...I dont think I will go with E rated tires this go around. Depends on what I can find in that size.

Well, we found one we like and picked it up Monday!
08 with 164K.
I've put 150 miles on it. I like it. The only thing I'm not diggin, is the 20" rims. I wish they were 17"....and the aftermarket high speed low drag touch screen stereo...Doesn't receive AM at all and there's no book with it, so navigating int is a pain for me.

Jade our 2yo Labridog laid claim to the back seat.
My Dear Wife (DW) likes it as well!

Thanks SO much ofr all the imfo y'all provided....now to find a good Tundra forum to glean from. This is the first Toyota for me.

Probably hard to find, but Toyota made "Rock Warrior" 17" for these that are very nice light forged rims. Aftermarket 17s that fit usually stick out too far in order to clear the brakes. 18s work well.

Thanks for the info rruff.
I'm just thinking that a larger sidewall would be better at dissipating heat when towing.
