HIgh-way and Light off-road tire recommendation

Hi, since 2018 I have had Goodyear Duratec AT tires on my lifted Chinook, the tire size is LT235/85/16, rig weighs about 9.500lbs. These are great tires both on and off-road in all conditions and held up great but due to age I am looking to replace.

However, since I regularly drive 3 - 8 hours to get to my fishing spots, and my off-road is really limited I learned I do not need an AT tire as aggressive as the Duratec. I do need larger tire as maintaining my ground clearance is very important.

Can any one recommend a tire that that is used occasionally on fire roads and dirt roads that is smoother and quieter on highway than a more aggressive AT off-road tire. Aot of my driving is on backroads also in wet sloppy conditions, light snow potential. I am also open to a more narrow tire as well. I do like a more aggressive look in a tire but I am ready for a quieter smoother less aggressive tire that spends 90 - 95% on highway.

I am thinking of the Vredestein Pinza AT which looks good but no nothing about it and not sure how much quieter than my Duratecs - https://www.vredestein.com/car-suv-tire ... -PINZA-AT/

I've had pretty decent luck with Falken and Coopers for budget AT tires on "approach vehicles". It'll be interesting to see what others recommend.

The Falken Wildpeak AT4 looks real promising, Cooper Discover AT3 could be good also.

I've had nothing but good experiences with both of the Wildpeak AT3w and Cooper AT3 tires on my trucks. The Discoverer is lighter weight and quieter, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bit better on MPG too. I like the Wildpeak better in the winter, although the Discoverer AT3 performed well for me on nasty winter (Montana) roads as well. Both have been great trailhead tires on "high-clearance" rocky roads with no complaints from me.

My vehicles are only around 5K-6K lbs, for your 9500lbs, I believe the AT4w successor of the AT3w is geared towards heavier applications.

Just put Wildpeak AT4s on my Ram 3500 with a popup camper, only a few thousand miles on them

So far they are great, quiet on the highway and good on wet roads. We did about 50 miles of dirt and they were good, but no mud yet.

Thanks all, I order the Falken Wildpeak AT4 and get put on Monday. Have two immediate one-way 6 hour trip followed by 10 hour trip week later so will give update.

Lots of good options listed above. Since you are loaded with a Chinook camper on the back, getting a tire with a load rating appropriate is of course a good idea. I have been very happy with the Toyo Open Country AT that I currently have on my truck. Maybe too aggressive for your needs, but they are available in H load rating, they are 3 peak snow rated and they are decent on road and off. I like the puncture protection of more plys as well as the load handling.

Falken Wildpeak were also on my list this time as well as the Cooper Discoverer. I was never very happy with the BFG K02, they were 'ok', but not great. I have also run the Hankook ATM on my Grand Cherokee... those were also great in most all conditions.

Geolander go15 , wispier quiet , snow rated and extremely low rolling resistance I only lost 1 mph going to a 35 over a 33 because they roll so smooth
I actually get better mpg with big heavy Hankook ATs (35x13) than the stock Bridgestone street tires (32x10) 🤪

Rolling resistance is not something you can tell by looking or weighing, unfortunately...

I have the Defenders on my 2024 JGC and really like them, I ran Nitto Grapplers for 100's of 1,000's of miles but realized I didn't need tire this aggressive on my daily driver so went with Michelin Defender, only have 20k on them but so far so good. For my Chinook I wanted a bit more aggressive look that better matches the overall rig.
 
I have Cooper Discoverer AT3s on my Express, 7800lbs empty. Quiet enough to talk at a normal volume on the highway and I get up to 16mpg. They perform quite well off road and are made here in the US. I have larger tires than you and just got a set for $305/ea out the door.
