Hiking in northern New Mexico

Excellent trip! I've done the San Leonardo Lakes hike a few times. I'm wondering how you found that gem? It is not a well known trail. The Williams lake trail is pretty well known though and a sweet hike. I always seem to find Texans on that trail when I hike it. :coffeedrink:

I was trying to find little known trails and I saw this one in a guide book I bought off Amazon.
The Williams Lake trail was great but there was too many people for my liking. Next time I'll go beyond and check out Wheeler Peak.

I must have driven through your town because I stayed in Espanola my first night.

Yup, you drove through Pojoaque if you stayed in Española. You should have stayed in Santa Fe, the only good thing in España is the Wal-mart.

Did you ever consider going to Goose Lake while you were in the area?

I considered it briefly. At the end of the day, the San Leonardos Lakes were more secluded and I prefer to get places by foot rather than drive.
I also felt back for the dogs having to endure bouncing around in the back of the truck.

Excellent pics

Pack along a pair of socks in a ziploc, as soon as you feel a hot spot stop and change socks, it can help slow down getting blisters

LOL, pretty much spot on except for Parasol tacos...

Looks like a great trip, lots of really good hiking around the northern part of the state.
