Pics tomorrow, its too dark now, but after seeing all your cool attics in your roll-cage equipped TJ's and JK's and what not, I decided to turn my cargo net into an attic for the back of my XJ.

And I didn't have a rollcage to mount it on either. :sombrero:

Well, if it helps any, the way I mounted mine on my XJ was through the mouldings over the rear windows. I've got a 2-door though. It wont hold any great amount of wieght, but thats not what it'd be for anyway. Im gonna go snap a few pictures so you can get a better idea of what Im talking about, and maybe get the gears churning for you as well. :sombrero:

Rear storage drawer for my LJ:

All in all, about a weeks worth of woodworking and paint. Less than $150. A great addition to the trunk of my jeep.

Better explanation of my attic, with pictures this time.

Here's the rear driver's "side mount", they're in the same places on both sides of the car.

View from the Rear, with the hatch open (couldnt get a decent picture though the windows, too much tint.

All the hardware (D-Ring's and Carabiners) are from Harbor Freight. Cheap, and decent quality. The one around here has a "Dollar Daze" coupon page that nets you the D-rings for $2 a pair. I got the carabiners in an assortment box for something like $4.99, and there are 12 of various sizes, and a pretty good little box. The cargo net i scored at the junkyard for free. :victory:

great ideas on the attics, I have a couple of different junk yard package nets ala Alexfms and was wondering what to do with them, I may have to see about figuring how to take advantage of them in the scrambler's cab using the roll cage.

Thanks

rear cage

here is a very simple rear cage for my scrambler, I can use a roof top rack or use it as a lumber/ladder/?? rack and can attach an awning to it as well.

For 3-4" of lift on a XJ Cherokee, you can use 88-98 C-1500 Chevy pickup front brake hoses. You just have to build the "frame" side bracket to hold it.

Actually, most of the stuff I've done to my Jeep Cherokee are homebrew. I'm a cheap bastage! :sombrero: One more thing, just about anywhere you go in the US you'll be near a Auto Parts store, so if I kill a brake line, I don't have to try to find something I can use to get home, I can order a replacement for what I already have w/o having to get a set of those braided, extended, expensive brake hoses.

Do you have pics of that fron receiver before you installed it? I was thinking the exact sane thing for a multimount type winch setup and am curious how you did the side plates and mounted it to the chasis. Awesome mod by the way.
