How important is GVWR?

Ha ha! That made me laugh out loud! ?

Think mine was built in California with a Japanese built engine.

Do you understand that some of the newer ones are built in Mexico?

You're trying to derail this thread with yet another argument about how diesel doesn't make sense when no one even asked for your feedback on that issue. These tangential posts of yours are all too common; and to be honest, I think you are the only one who gets enjoyment out of them.

No ******** Sherlock! ....and some in Texas.

And here I thought you had a sense of humor, why I tagged you...guess I was wrong!

Well hell yeah I come in here for my own enjoyment. Wouldn’t do it otherwise!

How in the ******** am I trying to derail it another swapping in a Cummins 2.8 diesel into a Tacoma is probably one of the worst ideas out there! ?

Timcampsallover brought it up, simply answering him. Hell I was going to try and be nice to you today. But ******** that!

Seriously, do you have any real world hauling and towing heavy experience, or do you only know how to over spec sheets?

A diesel swap makes as much sense as a

Don't get me started on the Cummins 2.8 swap in a Tacoma. @Dalko43 and I have gone round and round with that one. We have entirely different views on value and what you get for your dollar. Gonna be blunt here and say... think those 2.8 swaps are idiotic, not much gains for your money...be real **********' hard to toss a Chinese built engine in place of a Toyota. Might be ok for custom builders where money is no object, but for Joe Average working class stiff like myself...I don't think so.

i'd be more interested in the new F150 powerstroke… or even a 2.7 ecoboost…

Hory ******** dude! Shhhhut yer mouth! Do you wanna raise Dalko43’s hackles!? Yer gonna get me in trouble!

We went round and round on the ****** One Fiddy’s deezul too...

Absolutely asinine on Ford’s part only to offer it on the upper trim models. What should only be a $3000 option on a base XL...you’re gonna have dig a little deeper in momma’s purse to get it. According to my fuzzy math, instead of shelling out three thousand clams...it is gonna cost ya more like thirteen THOUSAND since it only comes in the Lariat and above...so much for “only” a $3000 option.

Penny pinchers want to save money on fuel, yeah let’s throw that fuel sipper in the most expensive trims...makes no cents.

That 2.7 is an awfully nice power plant. 400 ft/lbs TQ. Can find those in the low $30’s. Tacoma price range.

But my grandpa slow ass would be totally fine with the NA V6. Specs are super close to a V6 Tacoma. Curb weight is close too, payload and towing is a touch more, and you can get the Ferd so much cheaper...$25K easy. Can’t touch a V6 Tacoma below $30K.

Penny pinchers don’t buy today’s diesels. EPA has so much stuff attached to them that the efficiencies are hurting. I’d love to delete my 6.7 f350 - better mileage, less waste, more efficient and reliable.

By the time I get around to that, it’ll be a felony the likes of killing Santa Claus.

A crate 2.7 ecoboost with a 6 or 10 speed swapped into my tacoma, though, would be fun.

Craaap here we go, another thread derail....you're really trying to get me in trouble. I am not going to be allowed to hangout with ya anymore... :)

No they don't! The days of the cheap diesel has long sailed. I don't get why they tout about having good fuel economy, yet is going to cost you. Whole point of wanting a vehicle with good fuel economy is to save money. At least it is for me...I don't get into that whole braggin' rights (Looky look I have a diesel!) ****************.

Crate 2.7 EcoBoost sure would fun in a Tacoma. Though think you're better off installing a turbo on the 2.7 I4 that is already in there, be a lot less headache.

I am not much for engine swaps anyways...stock is more than fine. Engine swaps are for throwing good money after bad...

Very good friend of mine is swinging through here this week. You think I am cheap...I got nothing on him. He is 44 years old, RETIRED, and decided they are going to travel all summer. He just picked up a V8 4Runner and a decent sized tow behind popup camper....all for $8700. He does bicycling touring...so that is a luxury for him. After traveling all summer...he is going to sell it, and knowing him he'll make money on it. The profit will most likely pay for gas and food. Basically travel all summer for free.

That is how you do it....all this arguing over $40-50-60K+ trucks and their **************** payloads and whatnot. Seems kinda silly...highly entertaining though! :D

I think we need a dedicated sub-forum for @Clutch to pontificate on his world views and experiences.

That should help with keeping the other threads on topic.
