... if a Blue Sea 7622 ML-ACR Automatic Charging Relay could take the place of the solenoid?

Of course; it IS a solenoid. Or is it a relay? Or does it contain a relay, or a solenoid?
Technically, the difference is that a relay is a switch and a solenoid actuates something physical. Of course, your solenoid could actuate a switch, in which case it would be a relay. For the purpose of this discussion, they are one and the same. :wings:

A relay is simply a remote controlled switch. In automotive use, most are actuated by a solenoid. Which is why we commonly refer to the the starter relay as the "starter solenoid."

It gets worse, there are some relays that are solid state and do not actually contain a solenoid. But, we digress.

Diplo had too much coffee. :)

The Bluesea has a solenoid, plus a little computer brain to control the solenoid.

How about this 2 Gauge cable from Amazon? Is it a good choice? If not what would be?

Thanks.

Agree with Dave. Welding cable is the bomb.

I usually just goto a welding supply shop. They have big spools and the crimp tools. Just tell them what you need and let them cut and crimp it.

Also be sure to ask for scraps, they sometimes have random lengths of a couple feet here and there that may work for your task and may eventually come in handy rewiring a winch control box or whatever. If you're buying a long run they may even just give the extras to you.
