I Leaked All Over Colorado's Face!

Day 4: Continued- Shelf Road to Cripple Creek and Victor.

I don't know what I was expecting, but I pictured the Shelf Road differently. I was not disappointed, only surprised. Descriptions made it seem more like the side of a mountain, not a canyon wall. Cool enough, I like canyons!

Real estate for sale. All 4 feet of the cliffside. Oh wait, you could sell the vertical area, it is infact area of earth. Would make an interesting project. In the meantime, the canyon floor seemed to be a more appropriate place to look into.. Silly realtors.

I liked that you could see the drill marks from when the rock was blasted out.

Then we came upon this guy.

He asked if we were alright and knew where we were headed. "Sure, sort of... never been there and dont know where we'll end up." I asked if he had any more motorcyclists behind him, but he said no. Shucks.

Day 4: Cont. Cripple Creek and Victor

We had visited Victor on the previous trip... but didnt make it to cripple creek. We made it this time, but unfortunately for us, the town was gridlocked with American Iron, leather, booze and tatted up wrinkly skinned old people. Not that there is anything wrong with leather.

An old jeep or two for the non toyota folk.

Welp... nice no seeing you Cripple Creek. Thanks for blocking us out. Doubt we will return now, in fear of being shut out and neglected.... again.

Victor.
Well, we get to Victor hungry for lunch. Since CC was packed.
So... we get to Victor. Low and behold their streets are blocked off too. I guess these towns do not want anything to do with the 4wheele travellin folk. Fortunately, we circle the town which is only like 4 blocks by 4 blocks, and find a cop who is taking down the barricades. Asked about a lunch diner. And he recommended the only one in town. Great, choices! At least it was an easy decision, with my indecisive with

I dont remember the name of the diner, but it had a cool ceiling and a cool piano and excellent pie.

That lake was frozen on my last visit.

Gold Camp Road is beautiful.

I like this truck.

We headed to the newest state park in Colorado at Cheyenne Mountain. The mountain that paints the backdrop to our picturesque campsite is the one that a certain few high priority public servants would be rushed to during a time of crisis.

Will you have a .gpx available?

Thanks for the compliments guys.

As far at the .gpx. For the most part I've stopped recording the routes. If I am bored today, I'll try to put together a file for you guys. Quite a simple route, actually.

I've got another interesting day to share with you guys. I'll start that in a moment.

This is a great shot. I think you should make it black and white.

Why thank you. I took several "textures" sorts of shots on this trip... I think I only posted 2.

I'd disagree about the B&W though, the colors are already quite monochromatic but there are a few hints of blue and brown that sort of bring the rocks forward. If anything, B&W then change the exposure a bit to darken the water.

Along with a lot of things... I've given up trying to edit all my photos. For this report I didnt edit a single one (of the 1200)! :sombrero:

But since you suggested...

I love it! I agree it was very monochromatic that is why you should finish it off and go all the way. I know you didn't edit at all, thanks for filling the request. :wings:

Looks like a great trip! Thanks for sharing with us all. We used to do the Medano Pass trip every May when my kids were small, the stream crossings could be interesting to say the least. Think FSJ Cherokee on 33s with water over the hood

Great trip, and great pics, thanks for taking the time
