Icon 4Runner Expedition Rear Spings

I wonder how that relates to OME 3 inch kit for a 5th Gen 4R as far as weight goes.

Looks like they're comparable in load-handling, and will probably ride better when the truck is unloaded due to the dual rate design. Back in Dec this was posted on the FJ Forum - http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru.../228873-overland-series-rear-coil-spring.html

"This coil spring kit will deliver 3” of lift in an unloaded vehicle, and 2” of lift when loaded down with a typical list of overland equipment.
Designed by ICON and manufactured by Eibach, these springs are guaranteed for life not to sag or break.
Multi-rate coil allows for exceptional ride quality whether loaded down or empty.
Great option for aggressive drivers as second rate will help reduce bottom-out.

I'll be installing a set hopefully in a month on my 2010 4Runner TE when I install my CBI swing out rear bumper. I'll be sure to post up a review.

www.dirtroadtrip.com is all about scratching the itch for off-road adventure one weekend, one vacation at a time.

They're not dual rate, they're progressive. Even better

They could be considered both/either really. Two different rates, rate increases progressively. Semantics, I guess. I was just following IVD's lead as it is their product.

I mean I wish icon made a heavier duty leave pack for my Tacoma. Their current pack is outstanding if you're running an empty truck. But they are light springs and not suited to overland use with a heavy load of gear

What about All-Pro's Expedition spring pack? or old faithful OME's?

Can't you just order something from a company like Deaver built to your spec? That's what I did when I couldn't find what I wanted stocked anywhere. Cost was pretty much the same. Oh...and everything else I'm running is Icon. They actually recommended Deaver. Call Jeff, he's great!

I just installed the AllPro HD Expedition springs and Timbrens on my Tacoma. So far they are a great match with the Icon resi shocks. I'll be reviewing the APEX springs once I've run them a bit ;)

The Allpro springs look amazing, but I don't want 3+ inches in back. I'd prefer 2ish, and have been leaning towards Deavers. Good to hear Icon recommended them, I've been meaning to call Icon to ask.

Yeah, I hear ya...I am running OME HD's, while I like the load capacity...waaay too much lift for me. My cheap solution is having 250# worth of sand bags in the bed, behind the axle, when it isn't loaded with gear. Not sure what better solution is...either a lowering shackle, spring under, or a whole new custom made spring pack...even considering linking the rear, and going with coil overs. And make it where I can adjust the ride height with different mounting positions of the coil over.

Can get a relatively stock look, with a linked rear, like on this Ranger. Do mini-bed cage, unlike the full one above...so you can have somewhat usable bed space.
