Icon FJ45 at SEMA

The coolest 45 I ever saw (in a magazine) was the silver short wheelbase 45 that someone had modified an 80 series frame and axles to fit under a 45 body. Used the stock 80 axles and suspension and the stock 1FZ engine.

That's probably Gary Coberly-Waggoner's FZJ45. It was in Trails about a year ago, maybe other places, too.

The fzj45 is amazing. He has got some serious time in that. I dig the icon. But for the difference in cost I would go with this

Interesting point. I would leave it leaf sprung for simplicity, but in doing so I would expect the cost to be less, ya know? But since the target market for an ICON is probably not the dirtbag OHV camping type, doing a coil suspension or at least a shackle reversal (looks like that ICON 45 is still shackles leading) would make it ride nicer on your way to that Hollywood party or whatever.

That 45 kicks ass and you all know it. A ton of quality and hard work go into those rigs. People spend twice that on sports cars and hot rods and about the same on muscle cars but a 45 has a lot more function. TLC was talking Biodiesel, maybe 2.8 International, might already be doing it.
