I'm interested in the electric Jeep even though I'm sure I'll never be able to afford one

I am as well. I've been waiting for this class of vehicle to develop for a while. Given my relatively short commute and hydro/solar generated electricity, I could commute on electric power alone, but still fill up my gas tank in small towns in the desert when on an adventure. Really the best of both worlds even ignoring the performance benefits. It would certainly beat the 15 mpg I got in my TJ.

I am also curious on the price, though, as well. In some of their other vehicles, FCA only offers the hybrid drivetrain with higher end option packs. I hope that it's available on the Sport S here.

Last I heard there will be three models, the 4xe, Sahara 4xe, and rubicon 4xe. Maybe the lowest one will be base style but they aren’t calling it a sport I don’t think.

yep, me too

I'd love
a vehicle that can run submerged
a vehicle that leaks no fluids turned turtle
a vehicle with fewer moving parts, no transmission, no rad, no transfer case
a vehicle with instant full torque from a stop
a vehicle which runs silent thru the forest

not something I'll likely live to see never mind afford but I'm glad the will is there to build it

Hybrid technology isn’t cheap to manufacture so it’s always going to be a little pricier than a gas motor at this point. Once more are made price will go down though. I mean a hybrid is a gas motor + another motor. Gas tank + a battery pack. You should be paying more because you are buying more.

I'm waiting to see the price as well. I expect it to be more expensive for sure based on the same comments above, I'm just hoping it won't be too excessive.

$4k for the diesel upgrade is a little ridiculous despite the increased torque and mpg.

$4k for the 4xe upgrade I could live with, but if it starts pushing $6k, maybe not so much.

I'll correct myself...for 2021 the diesel is a $4500 option!
