Inland Rovers Unusal Motorhome Buid

Nice RV. That will be my next project- pick up a 22-24' late model rv and install the 4x4 kit.

Any issue with the long rear overhang? I have a 1986 Class A 4x4 that I am considering shortinging out the rear so that it is more off-road worthy. Are you planning on putting supersingle wheels?

Pics of your rig?

I kinda like the idea of having a "backup" wheel and tire on each side.

You and me both, after driving a truck for a living for a while I can definitely say "super singles" are over rated when it comes to durability. A slightly better ride and a fractional increase in fuel economy is not worth lacking the ability to limp your vehicle when you have a blow out.

etcatmeat, Your rv is looking sharp! There are a few like yours running around here in the mountains they always catch my eye. If you keep dually's on it stay very aware of catching rocks between the tires they will blow out your tires in a matter of minutes or worst yet they can toss a rock out at highway speeds and launch a football size rock through your fenderwell into the rv. Everyone I have known that wanted to keep duallys on a off road vehicle eventually switch over to singles due to the amount of tires they have to replace due to side wall blow outs from rocks getting trapped between them. I personally think duallys look awsome on off road vehicles just not the most practical.

Good point you have....I'll be checking for rocks quite frequently!

etcatmeat,

Here are a few pics of my 4x4 Winnie. Where in RC are you? I used to live on Archibald/highland before the 210 was built.[/ATTACH]

Nice rig! Never seen a class A with 4wd! I live right off Archibald and pretty close to the 210 also, small world!

Looks great. Let us know how it handles once it is all done. We recently picked up a 29 footer for our family. Sure do want to do Chris's conversion on it. What size tires are you running?

Thanks
Jeremey

Sorry, looks like I overlooked your question! They are 32" tall tires. 225/70/19.5

just an update to the motorhome build, I've done lots of interior upgrades like faucets, electrical upgrades, light fixtures etc but I won't bore you with that! I installed a custom made park brake that brakes on the driveline. I had a custom made rotor made that bolts on the back side of one of the driveshaft flanges and used a heavy duty mechanical caliper and then tied it in to the factory system so it uses the existing park brake pedal. Came out really nice if I do say so myself!

I also installed the one of the newest editions to U-Joint's line up, the track bar. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this item, it drives WAY different after installing this. VERY solid feel ZERO bump steer. Completely worth time, effort and money.

The rear overhang limits the departure angle, no question about it. I don't really plan on running "trails" with this rig so no big deal for me. I just put all new 19.5 wheels and tires so no plans on the supersingle. I kinda like the idea of having a "backup" wheel and tire on each side.

When I start my E-Series build, I really want to upgrade to 19.5" wheels & tires as well. What kind of wheels are those and where did you get them? Also, what kind of tire and size did you go with? Your coach turned out great!

They are Vision Heavy Hauler wheels. The tires are Cooper/Mastercraft Roadmaster RM190. They are 32" overall height. 225/70/r19.5 is the size I have.

Here's a good start on shopping for tires...
