Richard- I would encourage you mount the cables from the brush-guard/bumper to the rack.Flexing the bumper toward the truck would only slacken the line a little, while there is enough stretch in that size cable for the bumper to flex away a little bit. Also, if you ever have to back up, branches like to catch behind the brush guard. Having the cable to bridge the gap from the fender prevents this.
A little shrink tube will definitely clean up the ends of the cable a little nicer. Happy trails

That's good advice, I never thought about what branches would do if I had to back up. I found a local guy who is going to fab me a custom bumper later this spring for $500-600, which in the end is what it would cost for me to buy a bumper and retrofit it, but at least I know this bumper will fit perfect. Plus I like the idea of supporting a local overlanding shop, (not just a regular 4x4 shop) they do good work there :)

Hey scrubber, did you sand the parts down and apply a primer or anything before spraying on the bedliner? I'm thinking about doing that to the tan lower rocker panels of my Monty.

I lightly sanded the entire area that I painted with black. I only applied primer to the chrome areas as I couldn't sand those areas effectively. The black looks much better than the tan that came on these and really modernizes the look. I also took the chrome stripping off of the gutters as it looks tacky(IMO) and once again updates the look of the rig. Don't need that bling anyway. Very easy to pull off if you start from one end and just snatch away.

:iagree: I think in most instances chrome is a little tacky, and too flashy for my taste. If it weren't too heavy, I'd do my who truck in bedliner ;), but I'll settle for flat black for most of it, and bedliner where I can get away with it.
