1st Gen Taco is 96 -2003 Correct? These will work with all of them but looks a little funny on the 02-03 Downward swoop grill. We have some add on caps to make it look right in the works. The frames are a little different from year to year so some fine tuning on your part will be needed to be done to the frame horns ( nothing to difficult)

I really think you are onto something here my friend.
I love to weld, but without a CNC, it is not cost efficient to build my own bumper.
If you ever do a 2nd gen Tacoma, I would take an aluminum kit.

Upland is pretty local. Hope this works out for both of you.

If you need a 1st Gen model let me know. I also love what your doing. The 22rec and aluminum bumpers are a match made in heaven. I would bet that between all the Toyota 4x4 forums we could get 5 eager 1st Gen owners on board for a cheap(ish) lightweight DIY bumper.

My question is where do people plan to get the alum bumpers welded.... I know some of you have the tools but would the majority?

I have a friend that will earn himself a lifetime supply of free beer for helping. This was my plan. Well that's actually plan number two. Plan number one has you guys using my 4runner as a test mule

Could you post up pics of a kit ready to be shipped, I'm curious how complete/incomplete the kit is.
