Interest in a Hannibal awning group buy

Hey everyone.

Got everyones PP. All funds are accounted for. I think we should be good with cost, assuming customs has no surprises that the broker didn't account for. So I will be waking up at 0400 tomorrow for a chat with South Africa, woohoo!! Hannibal states it will take approx 5 days to get out order together and out to freight. So I still think it should hit US soil around month end or early december. Tomorrow I will, hopefully, get dimensions and weights. I believe the awnings alone weigh 24-29# for the 1.9 & 2.4. Approx 8" thick. Not sure how the sides come packed and their weights.

What I need to ask is for those who want me to ship to them is how and with whom they would like me to ship. Forty4fun stated FedEx. Now for those in SoCal and Koly in Phoenix and maybe others. There is guy on IH8Mud who runs an enclosed trailer up and down the west coast from Phoenix. He has been on Pirate4X4 for a while and noticed him on Mud a few weeks back. He is pretty cheap running parts and trucks. You can find him on their classifieds. That may be a good option depending on his schedule and yours. IH8Mud also has a Mudship section where people will post their runs and their needs. Ive used a couple people before for rims and parts, always cheaper and even free, dinner, once. I need you all to do the research as to who you want to ship. What Im trying to avoid is anyone being upset with cost to ship to them. I will take it to any freight/shipper in Sacramento area. If it is cheaper out of San Francisco you NEED to tell me before I pick up awnings initially. That way I will plan time in SF and getting to that shipper. If I have to return to SF to ship I will ask for $$, I run a G500 so gas mileage sucks! And it will take time for you. So please plan ahead. You have a few weeks to get your quotes.

Thanks
Scott

Scott - I'm a member of the Arizona Land Rover club, and we're planning a New Year's weekend on Mojave Road... If you or anyone near you is interested they might also be able to transport an awning :bike_rider:

In the meantime I'll be looking into some of those suggestions you've made.

I supposedly average 11-12mpg, but I'm running 35" tires and never recalibrated the speedo/odo, so I'm probably in similar mpg territory.

Have they posted here or other sites?? i dont think you will have a problem if you want to wait a bit for it. Mojave sounds fun for New Years. Only done it once. We generally camp in Yosemite for the New Year, last 3 years anyway. We sit around the Ahwahnee with all the black tie and evening gown people. Of course were dressed in beanies and SmartWool. Love the fireplaces in the winter.

Its done guys. Payment sent out 0620 this AM after multiple call to fraud prevention. I love that banks have security but when you call them ahead at it still take 90 minutes...

So anyway, the awnings should be to freight by end of next week. If it goes according to his timeline on a plane to US next weekend. I will keep everyone updated as to what I hear.

More good news, at least for those of us with FrontRunner racks, is that the Hannibal and FR racks are exactly the same dimensions so it simply bolts up to the FR. No mess no fuss. I will post Hannibal's contact info as he said you can call them and they will assist with any other fitment issues.

Everyone have a great weekend! Ill be in contact.

Update for all.

They had emailed me thursday to state he thought he could get it to freight on friday, but alas no email this am. So I will assume its not out yet. Order was at powdercoater on thursday so it should be out first thing next week. That should put it in SF by weeks end. Im guessing it will be ready for pick up the following week.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!

Hi Scott,

I have a FR rack with the Hannibal awning. While it does (barely) fit on the FR perimeter, I'm not entirely comfotable with how durable it will be. The rack does seem to have a bit of flex with the awning it deployed. I haven't used it yet, so I don't know how it will work out. At some point I'll have to sit down and think about how I might reinforce the rack. I'd be interested in your thoughts when you get your awning mounted.
