Hi Jenny,

What a fantastic trip for your new truck. Did you take bikes too? Really want to see the video now. Glad to hear the truck is doing well. There is definitely an art to making a good aftermarket diesel tank. Diesel will find its way through the most microscopic of cracks......sometimes it's easier to just run a good POR15 sealer in the tank and forget chasing leaks. No doubt the supplier will sort it for you.

By chance I am down at the Brisbane Iveco Open Day at the moment ........ Here are a couple pics. Was a good day.....band playing, sausage sizzle, plenty of sales staff, a few manufacturers, plenty for the kids to do, etc.

Say gidday to Wayne.

Regards John.

Hi John,

Yes they are the new design ridgeline wheels. Thanks for the photos, some interesting vehicles there!

Yes thanks, was a fabulous trip. Really happy with the truck. No room for bikes though, we had the sixth tyre mounted up on the back of the (temporary) camper. We have another two week tour to Birdsville in July, the camper setup worked quite well on this trip and we will sell it on later in the year.

We have Cooper STT's on now, so have the five Michelin XZL's on the original rims for sale if you know of anyone who may be interested.

Wayne says hi, and go the Blues! We watched the Origin in SA with a bunch of very unhappy QLD'ers on Wednesday!

Kind regards,
Jenny & Wayne.

Yes. Please send me a PM with how much you want for the lot.

I was working on my bike out in the shed on Wednesday night......And could hear my wife screaming something about dirty cockroaches. Hahaha....yeah definitely some unhappy Queenslanders on Thursday morning.

I had a look at an Iveco daily 4x4 cab chassis just this week at the local dealer, i thought mm they look ok but then the keyless entry would not work we had to open the door with the key, then i noticed the lh rear axle seal leaking oil all over the wheel, then the $85,000 dollar price tag! ouch!!

...the $85,000 dollar price tag! ouch!!

I am not going to try and defend the Iveco as either a good or bad truck, but as for the new vehicle price...
When you consider it comes with singles, parabolic springs, 3 diff locks and suspension seats (I think) all as standard equipment, as well as a much better highway cruising speed, then the $85K is probably less than it would cost to equip a new Isuzu or Fuso with similar equipment (not that you can actually get real diff locks for either the Isuzu or Fuso).
But as for the electrics... well that's a whole other story, especially if you look at the history of other Italian built vehicles of the past. They definitely do no have a good track record.

Also, you're not the first person to mention defective seals on new Iveco 4x4 trucks. Apparently, they're quite common.

Iveco is popular in Europe and it sucks. Overbuilt where not needed and too delicate where it should be tough. Engines are of moderate quality and parts are very expensive as compared to Japanese vehicles. Another thing is ease of repairs. If you have a Mitsu and have problems in Asia, Africa or basically any other continent, you will find spares. For Iveco not so easy.

Iveco is definitely overpriced for someone who is more or less objective, but for me (a very subjective opinion) it is a total waste of money. Trust me, Italians know how to make pasta and pizza but not cars.
