Jack's 2007 Chevy Build

I got everything switched from cloth to leather last weekend. Major comfort improvement. The stock seats had 4-way adjustable driver's seat and fully manual seat on the passenger side. The biggest failing on the driver's side was the lack of lumbar support, much less adjustable lumbar. The new seats are 12 way adjustable on both driver and passenger side. My wife and I had to merge the two wiring harnesses to make everything work. The donor was a crew cab 1/2t and mine is an ex-cab 3/4t. There was quite a bit of difference between the two and that took some doing to hybridize both harnesses into one.

What condition were your cloth seats in (and what color), and do you still have them?

I might want to take them off your hands... the cloth seats (fully manual, bench seat front + rear, ex-cab 3/4T) in mine have seen better days, particularly the driver's seat, which is pretty well worn. I don't mind the manual seats, it's just that the driver's seat padding is flattened, and the center seat/armrest/storage cubby thing doesn't open anymore.

They are the dark grey and I also happen to have a center console that bolts in between the seats as well. I am not sure if I am ready to sell them just yet. I will let you know.

Finally got a chance to get some pictures and got my new tires mounted after a delay.

This is the new (to me) leather seats.

This is a profile with the 265's on the stock rims.

H2's with the worn/bald 315's

And finally with the new Nitto Terra Grapplers in the 285/75R17 (spec out at 33.86" tall)

Up close of the front tire/rim and my front bumper trim job.

Coverage with the flare.

Going to give them a test this weekend. The weird thing is my new Nitto TG's are made in Japan, whereas the last set I had on my LC in a 315/75R16's were made in the USA, whoda' thunk?

Gotta load up the camper and we are thinking of heading south, most likely somewhere around the Saline/Death/Panamint Valley areas, won't know until we get there.

Thanks everyone for the kudos. I think I might end up with the steel Buckstop bumper, I don't want to go through the summer/travel time without my winch, my wife and I go solo too much not to have the piece of mind.

Thanks - I want/need to keep the bench seat setup I have though, and it looks like your truck is 2 buckets + full console, so it wouldn't work.

Thanks everyone. I am pretty excited.

Forgot to add that I am using a BFG KM2 255/85R16 as a spare. The nitto's spec out at 33.86" and the BFG is at 33.3". Not a perfect match, but should be close enough to get me home and that is about as big of a tire that will fit in the stock spare location. The tire is right up against an exhaust hanger and looks like it will just clear the rear diff at full compression.

Definitely gives it a very capable look and stance! I think H2 wheels look great on these trucks, too.

If I had it to do all over again, I would have copied your build. My first truck had the RCD 6" lift on it when I bought it, as does my '06. On the rare occasion that the truck is in the dirt, the 315's in the wheel wells make for a slightly smoother ride, in all other performance aspects the lift and the tires are detrimental.

I can't remember if you did the Transfer Flow 45 gallon fuel tank on yours or not. That is my favorite mod to the whole truck, I hated the stock 26 gallon tank, I was looking for my next fuel stop 100 miles after filling it up. I've got 400+ mile range even when towing a 10k pound trailer now.

How is the Kryptonite steering holding up? From the abuse I saw the system take in Baja last year it seemed bullet proof. It's on my short list...just have to quit breaking things on the stupid Jeep!

Somehow I never realized you were in Reno. We'll have to meet in Death Valley one of these days...got a week in Baja coming up at the end of March if you want to give it a real test.:sombrero: Having said that, I'm taking the Jeep to Baja. The roads we'll be on aren't technical they just pound you to death, my camper would be kindling by the time it was over.

Keep up the good work!

I appreciate the compliments.

So far the Kryptonite is working/holding up very well. I had to remove it to get the front diff out and just for the record, it is still heavy...

I gave it a good look while it was out and everything still looks like new and the TRE's are still very tight (just shy of 10k) so I am very happy with that mod.

I do not have the big tank yet, I am waiting to get my sliders built first. If I were to put the tank in, it would be in the way of building/mounting the sliders, so it will be after that before I add the tank. Believe me, I am looking forward to it, 26 gal is a joke, the only thing that helps is that it gets much better mileage than my LC did. I had 49gal capacity in my LC and while it got horrible mileage (on or off road), it was nice having the reserve and confidence that extra fuel gives you.

I am heading to the Saline/Death Valley this weekend as a matter of fact. Gotta test everything out and get those new tires dirty. Let me know the next time you guys are meeting up down there and maybe the timing will work out.

I would love to do Baja, but I can't swing it this year. Might have to head down next Feb/Mar for whale watching, that is just too awesome. We were in the big truck/camper last time, so we couldn't do much exploring. Have fun on yours and be sure to do the write up/pics.

I am hoping to add an LJ to the fleet at some point. Just a timing/money thing.
