Jah310 Trailer Build. Here goes...!

Started putting together the side railings that will eventually be incorporated into the fenders. This took longer than expected.

Had to weld in a piece of sheet metal to close the open end of my square tube.

Built something similar for the front.

Looks pretty good and they are super solid.

Next, I'm going to triangulate the front so I can mount that tongue box and probably mount two water jug holders too. (They'll go between the trailer box and the tongue box).

Got a bit more done tonight. I added the front "triangulation" although its not really a triangle. It's angled to fit the tongue box and match the front side step fender thing I made yesterday. Turned out pretty good too - I like the lines of the trailer so far.

The tongue box will be forward enough to fit the Jerry cans behind it, and back enough so the truck tailgate has plenty of room. Also, I should be able to fully turn the trailer without fear of anything touching the Tacoma.

I also attached the front trailer jack. This thing is awesome - it has a nice big 8 inch front wheel and feels nice and sturdy. It fits perfectly both when it's down and when it's stowed away.

You may have addressed this already but are you planning to do a spring over axle config for more height?

I did the spring under intentionally as I want the center of gravity to as low as reasonably possible. It should have plenty of clearance - probably has more that my Tacoma...

Awesome build! Are you sure this is your first fabrication job? Just sayin you've got some mad skills:beer:

Thanks man : ) and thanks for the sweet deal on the Eezi Awn roof top tent. Can't wait to get it mounted up on the trailer.

Made some good headway this weekend...

Here's some more from this weekend. I mounted the jerrycan holders with some brackets that I welded up. Used some stainless steel bolts to secure them down. Don't really have any good pictures except this one.

Then I moved on to making the fenders. I ended up drawing out exactly what I needed on a cardboard box and then used that to cut the pieces and figure out the angles. It took me while but I'm happy the way they turned out.

They're easily strong enough to hold my full bodyweight. I haven't actually mounted them to the trailer yet as I think I'm going to attach the sheet-metal first.

Great build! I may have missed it, but what did you do for a floor? Is it also composite decking?

Also, do you have a ball park cost for the axle you spec'd out? I need the exact same one, and I'm beginning the vendor search soon. Just want to know what to expect before I pay outrageous prices.

Good question on the flooring - I haven't actually fully completed it yet. Right now I have a sheet of 14g sheet metal that needs to be welded into place. I'll probably end up putting some 1/2 inch ply wood on top of that and spray the whole with with some do it yourself bed liner.... I didn't want to weld in the floor yet as I still need to deal with the parking brake lines, and the electrical lines.

Regarding the axle I ordered it from Henderson Wheel in Salt Lake City - http://www.hendersonwheel.com/AxleOrderForm.htm . They were great to to work with and shipped product quickly. As far as price, I think they were fairly competitive considering they were able to build what I spec'd including the e-brakes and parking brake. If you PM me I can give more details on pricing. I'd prefer to have that conversation via PM.

Worked a bit on the fenders this morning. Still need to weld the sheet metal to the fender frame and do a bunch of grinding. At least I got the sheets cut and bent.

Slowly but surely it's coming along.
