If that Nemo tent becomes an option for the flippac...I will order immediately...nice!!!!
Yeah that! Very cool.
I'm sure for the regular FP they would change the design or rotate it so the door areas would be at the front where the bed is.

The Nemo is not an option... it IS the tent. I heard Mario say that Nemo WILL make all of the tents. Get your check book out. EDIT: you said flippac, not JK Habitat. My bad.

Keep in mind the JK Habitat and the Flip Pac truck shell campers have different dimensions, and were designed & produced by completely different companies, though both camper shells are sold through AT.

There are intentionally no inter-changable parts between the two products (tents/torsion bars/top etc.) The Nemo tent prototype was designed for the Habitat, and will not be a retrofit option for Flip Pac shells.

It's likely that the initial JK Habitats will have an alternative tent, since there is some lead time involved with Nemo production, but the specific choice will be made by the buyer.

Cheers

Thanks for keeping us informed, and same for the rest of the Habitat (or is that HabitAT?) team, John! Can I presume for the Habitat tent choices, the Nemo option will mean waiting longer than the "alternative option"? Can you share what that other option looks like? Nemo is my personall winner so far, but an "interim loaner" would not be out of the question to get some camping done should the shell be ready well in advance of the spiffy Nemo product.

Bummer...:(

Well the news isn't that bad.

The fabric used for the current Nemo tent is made in Australia to AT specifications. So we have access to the fabric as we import it in bulk. We have identified the main issues with the current FlipPac tent and have sketches that address these issues.

The next step is to talk to some US based companies that can sew this fabric and make the tents up to mil spec.

As this is a FlipPac question not a JK Habitat question I'd be happy to continue this conversation in a thread dedicated to the FlipPac tent. If someone wants to start on I'll pipe in.

Foxwing???

Does anyone know if it will be possible to mount a Foxwing to the Habitat as an awning option? After seeing the below picture, it seems like it would be a great for inclement weather. The area between the rear door access into the Habitat and the cooking area at the rear of the vehicle would be covered.

I'm afraid I am also guilty of using this thread probably not as initially intended, although this input is related to the Habitat storage setup. A few notes back are some ideas about getting water to the rear of the JK as well as the side or one or the other using stage 1 and 2 storage units. It seems like to get it to the rear near the tailgate, route hoses from the bladder inside storage 2 along the right side under the carpet, over the wheel well, to the right rear. Mount the fill and the quick release mixer connection into the Habitat top itself in the area above the right rear tail light, vertically one on top of the other. Mount the 12V switch for the water pump somewhere near the right rear roll bar bottom or close by. Then all one has to do when camped is plug in the mixer hose, turn on the pump, and go. Hose end with the spray nozzle could even hang on the tailgate somehow. Rig up a simple tub somewhere to catch spilled water (like on top of rear drawer storage) and you are good to go without mud in the kitchen. This is my latest plan, which unless I am missing something major, seems like a fairly straight forward adaptation.

That thing is really cool! I like the military stencil, you should do all the graphics in that style, rather than mix fonts

Out of curiosity - has anybody measured the new vehicle height with Habitat, AEV suspension changes, and the 37s on? The whole package is looking so good it has me wondering what kind of clearance you need to get into the garage when you get it home.

Just held a tape up to it and it sits at 7 ft.

Just measured my garage. Floor to the lowest portion of the raised door is 6' 9". The Habitat and 37"s combo are out of the picture for me.
As a reference, my stock Rubicon with a softtop measured 6'.

The Habitat adds 6 inches. I'd be interested in hearing what other people are thinking in terms of changes for handling heavier bumpers, winches, progressive springs for cargo, etc., and still getting the Habitat to fit in most garages. Between the J8 and the Nemo we've got some pretty good benchmarks to shoot between.
