Jeep Wrangler Habitat Official Release

We are here. The Habitat is in the process of being installed.

BTW - The color looks good on the Jeep

Another thing to note. I am not sure on the weight of the top, but I definitely have some spring sag which was expected. My Jeep has the stock rear springs. It was ordered from the factory with a manual transmission and a soft top, thus it had the lowest spring rate springs of an unlimited jk.

Believe it or not, watching them work is not that exciting.

You must have had them do more than just the "30 minute" top install and added some other goodies! Have fun this weekend. Maybe AT will also show us the Nemo update soon.

Jason pulled out just before the nasty weather hits with his habitat installed with a UMV tent. Install took a few hours as we were being careful to make sure that we did not miss any details. It sure turned out nice!

WOW

Congrats Jason! The gloss black does look good on the silver. Way cool.
I don't see any latches on the back to hold it closed. Are they on the inside?
More pics please!

Mario, how long until the next one is done?

Way to go Habitat team!!!

I'm going to guess the latches were installed after the pic and these were just some quick pics to give us a sense of the mounted product. Notice the antenna stuck under the fabric. I don't see how latches could be inside with this design but maybe they pulled it off somehow??? Looks like the hinges are more massive than what's on the Nemo version and that stock suspension is going to need some help when loaded with gear - makes sense considering AZU just added over 200 lbs to his stocker (would be nice to know final weight). I also see what appears to possibly be a rain gutter strip added to the side shell in pic 2. Can't tell if the tent windows have a mini awning lip on them or not. Yes, definitely would like to see some more pics of the entire unit. Also, how the Nemo fitting went. Where's the "Early Adopter" trophy? :victory: Bravo guys!

What's up with the new hinge on the front? Was the old hinge system not cutting it? This one certainly looks beefier.

Yes, must have been since I didn’t alter the rear latch location. Drip trim isn’t on yet either in this photo.

No, same hinges as in the #002 NEMO unit, which were bigger than on #001 J8. But good eye for detail - what you and will noticed is a new composite cover over the torsion bar.

No, sewed windows flush, no awnings on the windows to keep the sail effect to minimum. One of the concerns I have for the long-term life of the tent is that awnings sewn to the main tent will work the seams every storm.
I’ll see how everyone’s camping experience develops on this new design and incorporate any feedback. I expect that there will be various changes in the whole camper as we get things rolling and find things to change or improve.

John, very nice of you to respond on the weekend and a Sunday no less! Super nice job on things so far! Can't wait for mine!!! Crank em out and keep the supply chain rolling for us early adopters - especially that critical and very special torsion rod from the forge. It's got to feel good for the entire team to see everything coming together - finally! It certainly does from the customer end.
