hey guys, i found a couple of jerry cans yesterday for 25 bucks so i snapped em up quick.. my question is, are they any good ? they will be mounted in the basket on the tounge of my trailer.. im not sure that i like the spring loaded filler cap.. wathcya think ?
$25.00 and don't leak, good find for you! The only issues I've had with the "Safety" style cans like you've pictured here are depending what your filling the handle can interfere with getting all the gas into it. As you tilt the can the handle hits the side of whatever your filling while keeping the can spout in the filler tube. This forces you to pull the spout back and possibly out as you try to empty the can.
It's a non issue for filling a quad, a bit of a hassle for a pickup with a camper on.
The other issue is the round can fill port. They are spring loaded and designed to vent an expanding can. If you shake them up a lot they tend to get dirty around the port and can top from venting as dust and dirt stick to whatever vents out and settles on the can.
Gas tends to keep fairly clean. Diesel and especially mixed gas like for chain saws less so.
The up sides of those cans in your picture is being the standard rectangular shape as opposed to round they should fit in any standard jerry can holder. The other is the flexible fill spouts rarely get lost as they're attached.
In closing If I had them I'd use them. Go forth and adventure well before time runs out!
yup.. up here in canada we are bi-lingual.. although i am fluent in in several languages . i speak canadian and american very well .. my french sucks.. im pretty sure essence is french for gasoline..
yes i was .. i didnt see you there .. of course i dont know what you look like either...
the show wasnt too bad this year .. but nothing like it what it used to be.. that army surplus guy has a store in mississauga .. have you ever been there? i checked out his website i dont know if i was impressed or not, or if it would be worth my drive from niagara, watchya think ?
Never been to that show before, or that guy's store.
I found the show to be a PITA because it was downtown Toronto. It was expensive at $17/each, then you have to figure out parking for $10-25, and everything is "money money money". Even the fast food chains have jacked up food prices. I think it's a poor venue for the type of client they are attracting. Why not have it at the airport so it's cheaper and easier to get to, or easier to park a big truck.
I'm shopping for canoes, and there wasn't that much selection there. We went to the outdoor adventure and travel show last year, and it would have been better for us. But it wasn't really great either. I guess... these shows would be more fun if I had a huge wad of cash to spend as there are some good deals. But generally we go and look at all this cool stuff we can't afford to buy, so it's not as much fun.
We'll be going to the Cottage Life show this weekend to keep shopping for canoes.
hey rob i hear ya.. my dad used to take me to the spotsmens show when i was a kid.. back then at exibition place it took up the whole colisium and the side buildings as well we would be there all day and still not see it all and the prices were good... now ... forget about it .. we just go cuz we always do.. no deals anymore.. but we did find parking just down the street for 8 bucks , that was a surprise . the outdoor adventure show, up by the airport isnt too bad.. there were alot more more of the kayak and canoes there .
