Jevy's humble M-416 build thread

I like the yellow!
Drag it around some parking lots to scrub the yellow off the BFG's now.

Thanks!!!! I'm planning on taking it on an outing this weekend. We've spent the entire afternoon scrubbing the floor with steel wool to get up the last months of dirt/grime that has been ground into the floor for the trailer/Jeep builds. I'm very surprised how much of it came up. My wife was complaining wanting to replace the floor but now I don't think that will be needed.

Out of curiosity how many gallons on monstaliner did you use, and did you do the inside of the tub as well?

Thanks
Matt

It took about a 1/2 gallon to do the outside of the trailer tub and I used about a half gallon on the Jeep. I don't recall how much the interior of the Jeep tub or exterior of the Jeep tub took. I'm sure if you look back into my build threads it's in there. I didn't do the inside tub of the 416. That monstaliner is some tough stuff. I had a real hard time working into the corners/nooks of the Jeep tub and knew I didn't want to do that on the inside of the trailer tub. That plus I'm a messy painter so I usually end up wearing more than I put down. :)

I got the trailer hooked up for a trip this weekend that will likely end early due to rain. Now that it's in the sun I can see a few spots I was a little light on the paint but it's just going to have to do. This weekends trip will be a very light load since we are only camping(no bikes or kayaks) so it will be nice to see how it handles a light load.

List of things to do on the trailer:
solar charger
cable hookup for charging trailer battery while driving
inverter???

Thanks guys!!! Josh I bought the mount from power tank. Someone online pointed out that they had a mount for it. I couldn't find it online but emailed them and ordered it from there. The tank I bought from some place online. It is a 5# tank and looking back I probably should have gone with at least a 10#. I liked the compact size of the 5lb but the 10# would probably have been a smarter move.

Looks good jevy!

Where did you get your propane tank and holder from?

The bracket used to be made for just the 5 lbs so I put two on my M416. Now Power Tank makes one for what they call an 11 lb propane tank. The only issue with that one is that I would have to eith move my location or turn it sideways as the tank is too big for the side of my trailer due to height of tank.

well rain was forecast to be pretty much all the way through Monday so we decided to come on home this morning. We were staying at a campground only about 45 minutes from the house. I got the chance to try out a new hammock and my son wanted to sleep in the RTT. I like the RTT option but it's a PITA to deal with the cover. It was raining this morning and while trying to zip the cover closed I got a small piece of fabric in the zipper and it wouldn't do anything from there. I ended up just strapping it together so we could get on the road. When we got home I tried to get it back undone so I could let the tent dry out but the zipper split so now I have no idea what to do. I'm tempted just to take the tent off and get rid of it. The tent deploys/folds up quick but the cover is real difficult to deal with. I don't know why but the cover just makes putting it up such a headache that I don't know if it's going to be worth the effort to use it. If I can't routinely put the tent back up in it's place then it's going to be hard for me to depend on it.

Anyway I got a few more pics from the weekend.

I also forgot to mention that the only way I can get the trailer into my garage due to the angle/turn of my driveway in relation to my garage is to do it by hand. Empty it's not just terrible but with anything inside it is just too much for me to handle. I don't like the idea of it but I guess next time I take it out I'll find a spot outside to park it to where I can just roll up to it and go. I don't think I did any damage to my back last night but I "strained" it putting it back in the garage. It's definitely not worth it to be fighting it in/out of the garage at the cost of another surgery.

Also to note that my boy spent about an hour and a half outside yesterday and he managed to get the fabric out of the zipper. I have no idea how but he went out there on his own and figured it out. I'm pretty proud of him taking care of that.

Hey jevy have you figured out how to charge the trailer battery thru the trailer harness?

TJ there is a thread on the electronics forum on here that shows how to wire it up. I have all of the solenoid/control wiring done. I just have to buy the cable and get it installed.
