JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

There is a seal between the panels. The bolt flanges are reinforced fiberglass.

Various window configurations could be done, including panel truck sides (no windows). Swing up opening windows like some pickup caps have could also be used, or sliding windows.

I really like having the hard sides in the winter and the roll up sides for the other three seasons.

It's not a problem. At design time some consideration would need to be given to the various window options that the panels needed to support so that provisions could be made for them in the masters and molds.

I don't like the look of one really long window on the side, so in modifying a factory hardtop to have longer modular sides, I might restyle the windows like this, including a sliding window to let some fresh air in:

And while I was at it, I might do ambulance doors in the back ;).

(ignore the factory rear tailgate handle, I didn't take the time to do all the detail on the rear ambulance doors for this drawing)

If you where careful you could use stock curved glass for those windows....well, minus the slider.

Personally, I want it simple simple. Clean 'panelwagon' sides and a single rear door.

I would rather see a single full rear door without the factory pop-up glass. Then you could use the stock hinge system(that has reienforcements in the body) and the stock latch and handle which makes the install a bolt on affair.

The armored J8 test vehicle did have doors like you mention....

Here's another image of the Reptile conversion, from the web site listed above. This one has louvers and a rear window. Cost is $2500 Euro, or about $3400 USD. Even with the cost of shipping to USA, it's probably the cheapest way to close in the rear of the JK.

Ah there is also a video on YouTube.
Look for "jeep wrangler hardtop reptile"
And mine has a rear view camera so not having the back window is no problem even at night.

I almost bought the original Rubicon unlimited because of the stretched body. I can see where this would be a very cool option.
Now I really like having the back doors of the JKU. Super handy, especially with a soft top.
