JK/J8 Flippac rumor??

The window on the passenger side is obviously for the drivers field of view. The second window behind the driver doesn't provide much vision, and most expedition vehicles have the whole of the cargo area full of gear in this area.

The solid wall area on the drivers side can be used for a multitude of expedition equipment both on the inside of the vehicle and on the outside. This may compose of internal storage up to the roof level, built in closets, water storage, shower units, cassette toilet, kitchen, etc.

The solid wall also provides a little more privacy and security.

As far as retro fitting a window, yes it could be done as an aftermarket product.

Just to clarify in my mind's eye, is this topper designed with a permanent installation in mind or removable. The reason I ask is in a removable design, how usable is this space going to be for shelving, kitchen, etc with the current placement of the rear sport cage bar as it crosses the window portal? Overall, I love the design of the topper and ultimately would like to see myself getting one, but being a fully removable design is a selling point for me. A simple shell with the flip tent would be all I need. Well that and maybe a one piece tailgate/window that could be switched out for the stock tailgate. *subscribed*

Looking good Martyn!... Now for the LJ build, feel free to put full windows on both sides like our current hard top and incorporate pull down shades for the sides and back for privacy. :sombrero:

Figured I should get my request in early, since there are so many of us LJ owners that want these. :bike_rider:

Great work... looking forward to hearing from you in the future when your ready for us...

If you do one for the LJ... Perhaps include some flexibility in the mold to do a TJ version as well. Basically identical just 15 inches shorter.

Given the TJ / LJ platform isn't easily accessible from the back (and easily closed up once inside) - you might wanna consider having a hard floor on both halves , with a removable hatch at the tailgate end so you can access the cargo area.

To actually get in and out of the tent though - use a collapsable ladder... Ideal place would probably be on either side, above the rear wheels...

I know the LJ is the obvious choice to build an expedition vehicle on... but many of us already own TJ's ;)

The JK Topper will use the exact Jeep hardware for installation and removal, so yes it's removable.

Any interior work including storage, kitchen, water, shower etc. would be in addition, so it would be up to the owner to decide what they wanted fitted.

We have a new division of AT that is starting up just do design and install work on vehicle interiors, so the work of making use of tight complicated space in the JK is already being worked on.

The design uses the Jeep rear window and tailgate.

You hiring?

Any way of keeping the front panels clear? I would love to keep a front seat sunroof.

Sorry, the way the tent folds away in this unit you would have both the mattress and the tent fabric between you and the top of the roof.

Anymore pics of the JK Topper(interior)? I can't wait to see how it turns out. I've talked my wife in to getting one, but the shipping will be the determining factor. As I live in South Mississippi and a round trip to AT would be about 4000 miles. Any idea what the shipping would run?

That 2000 mile return sounds like a great shakedown run. If you ever decided to return, it would be a 3 hour drive west for me to come and oogle

Shipping would be in the region of $775.00

I agree... any new pic's
especially interior shots (fit around the roll bars), hatch opening, size comparison of interior space (maybe someone standing in the back and laying in the front on the bed when open?

We will be releasing the JK Topper at the Overland Expo in April. It seems like the appropriate thing to do.

It's a hard thing to convey using the written word, but we are as excited about the release as you are. No project ever happens quickly enough, and we struggle balancing getting it done as quickly vs. getting it right first time.

The balancing act at Adventure Trailers is, Mario the perfectionist, vs. Martyn the impatient. Having any one of us running the company would be a total disaster, having us both to even each other out works.

Past result are that we get it done right first time in a reasonable amount of time.

You are right: Launching it at the Overland Expo is I think the prefect thing to do. Keep it under cover and tension building until then
I hope I will manage to attend the Expo; I have a trade fair myself Tuesday through Thursday that same week in Detroit :( Bad timing I guess.
