JK Unlimited Expedition Build

I think with fridge, drawers, bumper, rtt etc you will want the heaviest spring rate.

I think you are right. When I take off for 100% TbJ (Travel by Jeep) I'll switch the the heavy duty OME springs. Until then, I'll see how this AEV setup works. The part I liked about the AEV option is that they supply geometry correction. Maybe not a big deal but I'll never know as I've installed all the parts now :)

This weekend will be the first time I've taking the Jeep fully loaded with 90% of what I expect to use long term. I'll be traveling 80% blacktop so I'll get to see how she handles on the road. Next weekend I'll be taking another trip that will be 90% dirt. Should have some good feedback into how this all works.

I think you will be very happy with the AEV, it takes the weight well and handles well and doesn't beat the crap out you when you are unloaded.

I am happy with the AEV 2.5 setup. Just finished 6 days of driving around both on and off road and the weight is being handled much better than with the stock Rubicon suspension. First, there is less sag when loaded. The Jeep is not affected as much by the weight while driving on twisty blacktop or rocky offroad. A Side winds are less noticeable too. And, when empty you are not beat up by heavy-duty springs. I still think I will install the EMO 300kg springs when I take off on my extended trip as the Jeep would be fully loaded 100% of the time but that's a year or two off. Until then, I am happy with this setup.

Added external water/gas storage today

The water jug has an external spout. This will let us access the water without having to move the jug from the rear of the jeep. When the tire carrier is opened the water jug swings out just enough to be on the outside of the RTT annex. Another advantage is when you spill water it won't puddle behind the back door either.

With tent up top I higjly sugest the standoffs from gobi that stabilize the bars against top back corners of the hardtop. They help with lateral stability of gobi rack when offroading with weight.

I've thought about the Gobi standoffs but have wondered how much stress is put on the hardtop. There's only 6 bolts holding it to the body and 2 up front on role bar. Also, If I use my soft top then I'm back to zero support.

Raingler Roof Cargo Net

Added a roof cargo net by Raingler the other day. I put it over the back seats, well where the back seats would be if I had them :sombrero:

It's came in very handy during the last trip as a place to store jackets and rain gear. Keeps things out of the way but easy to get to.

How long does your jeep need to hold those jerry can up in the air for? Haha.

Really like the build thus far. Are you planning on logging your trip here? If so looking forward, if not then good luck and safe travels.

She has pretty strong arms :xxrotflma

If I had the time I would log the trip but work calls :( I'm not even sure when I'll get the battery tray installed. Then, I have some rock sliders on the way and I have to get some winter tires ordered and mounted :Wow1:

Not sure how I missed this thread. Cool to see another Expedition build in Progress, which is local to me.

Just an idea if you switch around the gas/water cans you can use a super siphon on the fuel. Then you won't have to undue your gas can to put the fuel in the tank. Just siphon it straight in. Plus the super siphons are cheap.

Jeep looks good!
