Be sure that you can recharge the battery using the cigarette lighter outlet while you drive. If not...you could drain the battery and not be able to recharge without being tied to shore power.
I'm thinking about getting one to power lights, computer, etc. in my camper before I get the full-on dual battery system built.
Most jumper packs can recharge themselves when left on the vehicle they're jump starting for a few minutes after the engine runs.
My procedure is to hook up a jumper pack, check the jumper's battery using the check button, then try to start. If the vehicle battery is truly dead and draws all the current from the jumper pack, you may need to actually disconnect the vehicle battery ground to allow the jumper to start the car. Once started, hook everything back up and it should stay running.
Leave the jumper on the car with the hood open for 5-10 minutes and it should be fully recharged...
Buy the biggest one you can conveniently carry.
