KM2's on national Backorder??

OK I called and talked with Robert at BFG specifically about the new KM2's in the 255/85/16 size. He stated that production in this size had been halted for a while, but starting on April 1st they have resumed making them in the 255/85/16 size. He mentioned something about a change in computer numbers for the tire, thats why it was showing up as discontinued on dealers computers.

Robert said that if you do want to order the Km2 in 255/85/16 to give your dealer this number - MSPN 306-39 and they should pop right up in the dealer's computer. He did say that the KM2's as a whole have become a lot more popular than they initially expected and that everything is on backorder and to be patient.

Maybe a couple more people can call BFG and see if they get told the same thing.

Nice, I'll give it a try.

Good news. I heard the same from Matt at Discount Tire Direct. This is what he said:

"BFG has two part numbers for the KM2 in a 255/85R16. One of the part numbers has been discontinued. The other is still active and can be ordered in. I spoke with BFG this morning about part # 38186: 255/85R16 KM2 and was told that they are available. "

I don't know if they are in stock but onlinetires.com has the KM2 255/85R16 for a mere $156.00 each. Even with shipping the total cost to me would be only $175.04 per tire. That is a 'deal'!

I'm going to call my new/local Discount Tire and see if they will match this price. I will have to pay sales tax, but I will also get balance/rotation/flat repair service if purchased through Discount Tire.

I'm interested in other tires right now but they are all more expensive than these 255/85 KM2s and not available in this size.

Well since I had a little time this morning, and I am getting ready to bump up to the 255/85/16 for my upcoming Montana trip, I called BFG again. Spoke with Max. He confirmed that the size is not being discountinued at all. He also confirmed that item number is 306-39 and that the Reno distrubution center will be getting a large shipment of KM2's in 255/85/16's in a few weeks.

Around here, you still have to pay a fee in order to get lifetime mounting/balancing from Discount Tire. Not much (I paid) but don't want you to think that just 'cause you buy the tire from them it cost nothing for that lifetime warranty.:ylsmoke:

I called, they said they would sell me the 255/85 KM2 for $169.00 each. Out the door price, mounted/balanced/tax = $802.00

Lots O money but a good price on these treads! Tempting, as I would like to try these tires, very interested in their noise and traction.

As far as noise, they are probably the quietest tire I have ran. Traction wise, I love them. So far, most of the wheeling I have done with them has been in snow but they have worked flawlessly. Surprisingly, they have fairly good traction on wet roads too. Best tire I have driven on.

Well, my local dealer says KM2's in 255/85/16 are on national backorder right now. Doesn't know when they will come off backorder.

He said he could get some from a supplier in another state, but they would cost over $20 more a tire + $27 freight a tire, than they would direct from his normal BFG order.

Anybody buy these lately? Anyone have any knowledge of what going on? Online sources maybe?

Thanks in advance!

Did they give you a quote number? I know my local discount has claimed that they can't match online prices before. If I took them some proof they may bend to my will! :)

Stupid question, but how do you get past the online search at costco.??? I can't get anything but factory replacement sizes.
