KM2's on national Backorder??

I got the tires put on today. Man, are they nice! Much smoother and quieter than the 245/75-16E Goodyear MT/R's they replaced. I'll have them in the dirt for the first time on Sunday at Joshua Tree Nat'l Park.

I'll be interested to hear how much rubbing you have on the frame and UCA with them. I think the only other variable between your truck and mine is the wheel offset, if any. My 285 A/T's rub a tiny bit on the UCA and definitely on the frame when the steering is cranked. My worry is that the MT would be a little wider at the shoulder... please report back. Thx!

With the Land Cruiser wheels, I don't rub the upper control arm or anywhere for that matter. With my stock wheels, the 285's rubbed at full lock and the upper control arm. As soon as I get my camera back (the wife has been using it all week) I'll take some pictures.

Well, here are the new shoes! After about 500 miles on them, I am very happy with them!

Has anyone actually confirmed with BFG that they intend to discountinue the KM2 in the 255/85/16 size?

I checked with my local Discount Tire for 33/10.50x15 KM2s today. They said that size was six months out on back order. OK I like the All Terrains well enough.

I haven't confirmed it (called BFG myself) but to back-up what 24HRS was told about the 255/85R16 being discontinued...
I was at a truck event this weekend and a competitor told me that after waiting several months for the KM2 in 255/85 he was told it was a 'specialty application tire for dually trucks' (sounds strange but...) and they were not going to make the tire. He had to go with a KM2 in 285/75R16 instead.

Two reports from difference sources, it's not looking good :(

Seems like an odd business decision to make a year after introducing this size with a brand new tread pattern. Wouldn't you think BFG would evaluate all of their size offerings when migrating from KM to KM2, and make obsolete those sizes that aren't selling well?

Obviously it's all speculation at this point, and I'm just playing devil's advocate. And it's not the only size in backlog, right?

I'm just relaying what I've been hearing.

I agree - seems very strange to make a new tread pattern in 255/85 for 'a minute' and then not. Toyo's recent introduction of their MT in 255/85 also makes me think there is more of a market/demand for the size than I thought.

I hope the rumors are wrong and the 255/85 KM2 will ride again :)

I was told the same thing by the salesman at Discount Tire. He called BFG to check on availability and was told that they are no longer making the KM2 in 255/85R16. Hopefully its not true...

Those are my thoughts as well. Seems like strange timing on behalf of BFG.
