Beautiful looking J105 gerardines!

Interesting, I did not know there was an OEM LSD made for the 100 platform. Only electric or traction control. Is it viscous or torque sensing?

Yup, I know three people running kaiser in 80s, which I believe are same 3rds as in FZJ105. Kaisers are amazing LSDs off road on par with full locking differential, much more effective than typical LSDs.

The 105 is my favorite landcruiser series, would love one with a HD-1T as they are sold in central america. I keep looking for used one in Costa Rica but they sell so quickly. Happy Trails!

My Aussie HZJ105 has an OEM LSD in the rear. Sadly, no OEM triple diff locks on my truck, but some J105's were optioned with 3lockers. <shrug>

J105's only came with the 1HZ non-turbo I-6 diesel 130bhp/200btq (HZJ105) or 1FZ-FE I-6 petrol 212bhp/275btq (FZJ105).
I've seen lots of complaints about the 1HZ's power especially at highway speeds, but from my limited experience so far, with the 5spd manual, torque is decent and no issues keeping up with traffic even at 3000ft altitude. Steep hills require 3rd or 4th gear(4th is my favorite gear), but I've driven MUCH slower/scarier (ie my '80 300GD G-Wagen).
