Land Cruiser Questions

Not sure if this has been discussed before, however when looking on the Toyota site I get the impression the current model year Land Cruiser isn't as capable an off-roader as older models. Is that an accurate assessment? I've been thinking of a Land Cruiser, however perhaps an older Land Cruiser is the answer.
Any thoughts?

Read Scott Bradys recent account of his experience driving a 200 series (current model) in Oz. I believe he referred to it as a really nice comfy CAR... Get an 80 or 100 and be happy.

Wait a couple years and get a JDM from Canada. Turbo-diesel (no PHH or HG issues - just make sure the BEB's have been changed), rear discs, ff rear, and many of them have lockers.

Mine wasn't too expensive and is in really nice condition with 115,000 kilometres.
