went up outside of Lone Pine this weekend, drove around the Owens River area

passed a cow head hung on a road marker, needed a picture with it.

Camped in Onion Valley at 9200'

hauled home a falcon for my uncle, took this load up 178 and over to Kernville for lunch, then came down the steep grade into Bakersfield with no trailer brakes :smiley_drive:

thinking a 2 1/2 inch lift and 35. have 3/4 ton running gear to put under it with 4.88 and locker in the rear

A 4.30 or 4.56 should be plenty for all but the most demanding terrain. 4.88 would not be fun to live with day to day... unless you step up to 38s or 40s... and they aren't easy for day to day getting in and out. You have to go up too high, unless you trim the crap outta the sheet metal. You're on track with 35s for a full size, if you want it to be easy to live with, and still get to most remote places. I just think a 4.88 is too much gear for 35s.

Love the tire/wheel combo. I'm ordering a set myself just trying to decide between those Bajas or the new Goodyear MTRs. How are the tires performin g for you?
ran a set on my jeep and they did great in the clayton ok area and little sahara, never had a side wall fail/puncture, always ran about 6-8 psi in them. wish I would have gotten the E range but these were dang near free. had to run a 2" spacer in front and 2.5" in rear, waiting to see how that holds up.

Yeah, those have 4 ply sidewalls don't they. How are they on wet roads and what's the road noise like. Thanks for the real world info!

haven't gotten to drive yet, waiting on my rear drive shaft, bajas were pretty noisy on the hmmves, but they were soft top with no insulation, so I don't really know
