Bushcoat

one trail at a time
Just picked it up on Wednesday - 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z-71. Crew Cab, 5.3L, automatic, pretty much stock mechanically.. I'll be slowly building this one up for PLENTY of trips to the beach, surfing, camping, snowboarding, the desert, etc etc. :D Super stoked. I've been waiting a long time to get me one of these.

Soon ill be starting on the trailer conversion. Just did a bit of overdue maintenance, new springs, hub/bearings, u bolts/hardware, axle flip, and went from bald 205/75/15 six ply tires on 5" wheels to Goodyear endurance 225/75/15 ten ply on 6" wheels.20180916_200402.jpg

I am getting a few upgrades done. Roof rack and bed divider installed. After this weekends camping trip the next stop is overdrive! It will finally do 70mph.

Nice. If I am not mistaken the HMMWV came with 3.73 gears, we had one in the motor pool with 4.10 gears and it was night and day difference.

Need bags or weight distribution. At least the steering is stable with the increased caster angle.

Yea. My plan was to bring back just the hmmwv but when everyone found out I was bringing a trailer I turned into a freight company bringing everyone’s junk back to MS. It rides great with just the hmmwv but the trailer and all the extra junk really hurt.

It was 9 hours of driving part through Atlanta traffic. I was not a happy camper. I promise next time I go out I will have air bags. I already have a compressor installed on the truck.
