Arizona stars and my 2004 LJ

Hunting trip near Fredonia, AZ. I have a sleeping platform in the back. Was playing on the iPad while my friend was shooting star photos. He snapped this one of the jeep.

Not lost, just looking for the gate.

Thanks for bumping this thread! As a new member and owner of an '04 LJ I tried a search for "LJ" but there are too few letters for the search engine. A search for "unlimited" showed a bunch of JK related stuff. I'll have to get some pics of my heep to post up soon.

Ive had it since it was new. Was my DD until this last April. It's been great for both expedition and hard core trail use.

I absolutly love owning an LJ! I have built mine from the ground up to be an expedition Jeep. AEV/Nth/OME/JKS suspension part make it incredible to drive on the road, even with 37's. I run 488's and ARB's in D44. I have a new custom reverse rotation D44 going in in the front as soon as I get time to pull it into my shop. My wife and I have a dairy farm and 4 kids, so any time we get to "bug out" we take our Bernese Mountain Dog and head for Vermont. I'm sure a JKUR with AEV's JK350 package on it would be even nicer with the F1 leather package (HA!) but this one is just a little bit more in my budget.expo.jpgaevollie.jpg

Backspace for 315/70r17 tires?

I have an '04 LJ with an AEV Highline, 33x12.50r15s on stock Ravine wheels with 1.5" spacers that net 4.0" backspace and allow the flares to cover all but the sidewall bulge. It is still on the stock suspension. The wheel/tire/spacer combination provides ample steering ability at full lock with room to spare and flexes about the same as it did with factory 30x9.5r15 tires and fenders.

Near future plans are: 2" OME Heavy lift kit, belly up skid plate, rocker gaurds, 315/70r17 (34.4x12.70r17) tires and appropriate wheels. Genright 32 Gal. Safari fuel tank.

Is it possible to keep the backspace between 4.25" - 4.0" with 315/70r17 tires? What is the LEAST amount of backspace I can get away with zero-minimal rubbing? The spacers were only meant as a temporary fix until I could get wheels that were properly fitted.
