Lets talk portable air compressors

I want an ARB but I have had this for the last couple of years & only used it a few times at best

I took the frugal way out for now

its slow & noisy but works

Just wanted to let everyone know NOT to buy this compressor:

Look closely, it's NOT the Q-industry/Master Flow 1089 style compressor. It's smaller and here's the worst part - the head and cylinder "heat sinks" are fake. They're not part of the cylinder wall and cylinder head, nor are they physically connected to them for heat conduction.

I fell for it, bought one, then end up ripped off the fake heat sinks. The bare compressor underneath looks like a clone of the Viair 98C:

Most of those twin cylinder compressors claim a 40 min duty cycle (66%). I highly doubt it and call it false advertising. Such a duty cycle is impossible without proper heat sinking. The Viair is rated at a much more realistic 10 min (17%) duty cycle.

Would it work for the occasional tire air-up? For sure, but not for airing up 4 off-road tires at a time.

I have the Dominion off road setup that uses the Viair compressor, I have been very happy with itView attachment 143414

I run this same setup and it works great for me.

I have run Co2 in the past but decided to go this route this time around. Co2 fills are a 30 minute drive and spendy in my area. They told me around 30.00 for a 15lb tank .... I guess they get away with it with no competition....

I found the air up time claims to be spot on and the compressor seems well made. Aired up 8 35 inch tires from about 12psi to 30psi with out hitting the duty cycle in 90 degree weather last week. This is the setup with just the compressor no tank (viair 400h )Good enough for me!

x2 for Viair. Have a 450P 100% duty cycle and no complaints here and I inflate from 40 to 60 in the front and 40 to 80 in the rear.

I decided to go with the ARB twin after lugging around a co2 bottle for a while. The bottle worked great. I just didn't like filling it once a month.

I purchased a dual battery tray to use one side for the compressor.

Here she is all mounted and under the hood.
