Throwing out another option -

Coleman Tent Lights

I used three of these when I had the topper and a sleeping set up in the back of the truck. I didn't use the mounting plate, I just stuck the lights on the bed rails. The magnet held them firmly in place over the White Rim Trail and througout the whole first ExPo Trophy event. I was particularly impressed with how well the magnet held them even on my Line-X'd bedrails.

What I really liked was the ability to move them up and down the rails where I needed more light. I would think that would be handy under your lid as opposed to a light in a fixed position. It seems a fixed light never lights the area you need. I bet there is a similar option with LEDs. But a magnet base would be a great adjustable solution for the underside of your metal lid.

You can kinda see them here for a visual of what I'm talking about -

I use the Sylvania Dot-It in my rack on the ship, they work great and last a long time. I plan to use a few in my Wildernest.

I've got both as well. The Sylvania is nice in that it is of aluminum construction. However I like the rite lite puck lights better. Although they are made of plastic they are brighter having two brightness settings, can be attached with velcro or with the supplied screw and they turn and pivot. They are both nice lights and are so much easier to use over installing hard wiried lights.

I am looking into the LED strips, that are waterproof, and flexable (though not really needed) they are droping in price, but their ability to light up a strip of lights is handy.

I think a few down the length of the trailer would be sweet. Especially if you rigged them to come on automatically when ever the lid was opened! :D

I like this thread, lets here some more ideas.

Why not something like this?

The strip can be cut and re-soldered, it's got 3m adhesive on the back, and it's 12v

I got 3 LED headlamps from these guys for about $8. Barebones stuff, but still bright and working after many months
