Lifted Subaru

Yea, I was admiring the ground clearance the other night when I spotted that. I would be a little weary of those when playing around any rocks.

Man I love lifted scoobs, I'm really considering one as my next vehicle.

SuperU on this forum has done a lot of work on his. I'd be curious if his half shafts have any extra protection

Hey guys, has SuperU on this forum done a lot of work on his? I'd be curious if his half shafts have any extra protection. I bet he's put a lot of thought and care into his Subaru mods.

My first 4x4 was a bright red 84 2 door hatchback with factory white spoke wheels. It was a low mile California car with no rust. I lifted it 2" and wheeled it a ton  My friend had a GL wagon with a winch bumper that looked nearly identical to a typical ARB Bull Bar.

This site rocks enjoy! http://www.hatchpatrol.com/

I would really love to see that Brat out in the rough stuff... I've been looking at his site for years.

The rear suspension on the later Outbacks is set up differently than the older GL models in may of these pics. The shafts on mine sit between the components of the IRS and are fairly well protected. Not perfect, but better than in the pics posted earlier in this thread.

I have a 3/16" aluminum front and rear diff skidplate from Primitive Racing to help protect against the occasional unexpected encounters. Once I log a few more miles on it, I'll be tempted to start modding again. Been enjoying the snow so far since this is the first winter with the full lift kit installed. Thanks again to all who helped out this summer and those who offered encouragement along the way. :smiley_drive:

Ive got an 86 gl wagon that I am working on for back roads, fire roads. The guys on the ultimate subaru web page are great. A lot of the off road section guys live in western washington state. They have 4 inch and 6inch and some higher lifts on their subarus. Some have welded rear diffs. They have group outings to places like Evans Creek ORV and Tahouya ORV, Walker Valley etc. Their drivetrain problems are minimal. None that I know off have ever broken an axel over a rock. And lord knows they have tried. Really suprisingly tough little rigs. When Im done with mine, I will have installed my home made 2 inch lift, some 28 inch mud/all terrain tires on redrilled toyota truck wheels. A small winch, new bumpers, and a home made roof basket. Im about 50% done. When its finished I will post some pics.
