Has anyone had the rocker panels and fender flares on their 2005+ Tacomas coated with LineX? I have been doing some searching on the topic and I can't seem to find many new Tacomas with LineX. Around town where I live in NE Nevada there are contractor trucks with LineX on the rocker panels, and I have found a few older Tacomas on the web with LineX. My concern is LineX holding up for the long term on the plastic bed material. I was out a couple of weeks ago with my truck and scratched up the rocker panels and lower fender flares pretty good so I was thinking the LineX might add some protection. Any thoughts would be appreicated.

I've thought of doing the same thing but I haven't seen one in person that was done.
I think it would hold up pretty decent if you went with the Line-X with Kevlar and the UV topcoat.

My rockers and flares are LineX'ed, they've been so for almost 2 years with no problems. Still looks nice and black with no fade after the harsh elements and high UV exposure. I've seen some bad jobs too. Quality of application and prep are very important. Ask the dealer to see their work in person.

There are a couple of trucks on the tacomaterritoy forum that have been sprayed. LineX seems to be the preferred brand; most reports I've read regarding Herculiner have not been nearly as favorable as those for LineX or Rhino Lining.
Disclaimer: I haven't personally used LineX or Herculiner- the bed of my previous Taco was sprayed with Rhino Liner and I had zero problems with it (I had a camper shell over it).

i was going to have LineX do my rockers but they quoted me a cool $750 which I thought was outrageous, so I just used Herculiner. So far so good. If you take the time and apply it right, it's tough stuff, but the texture is a little rough and it does fade. However I personally prefer the faded look to the glossy.

I am in the middle, right now, of having LineX applied to the lower door sections and rocker panels on my '99 Land Cruiser. I was originally going to have Rhino Lining installed simply because a good friend has now had it applied to the same lower section of two brand new rigs and it has held up perfectly (and I think RL looks better...but that's a personal thing); and it is what they used on the front of my Kimberley Kamper and it looks & performs great (the Kimberley Kamper SportsRV nose box/pod is made of fiberglass and there is no issue with adhesion). But like so many other businesses, especially in Nevada, the Reno based RhinoLine dealer/applicator went out of business recently so that has left me without any real option.
FYI: There is a Rhino Lining dealer/applicator in Fallon and Elko which might be closer for you anyway...

a friend of mine had the side of his FJC Line-X'd. The finished result was as smooth as Line-X could spray it. The coating was color matched. the color is also all the way through. After seeing the results, I'm definitely doing the same thing, after I recover from the hit of the economy...
here's the results, after 40lbs of Line-X applied to 1/8'' thickness.
He's wheeled it through the bush not caring about branches... good investment...IMO

That's the nicest LineX job I've seen! Obviously the guy/applicator knows what he's doing.

I just bought their gun and hope to try it soon. Super slick no clean up or mixing. The gun costs $700, the tubes run $25/ and 4 - 6 coat a truck bed.... easy to recoup the initial investment, split it between a couple friends even....

well, to each their own. On the last outing, the FJC was the only clean looking truck in the pack the mud slides right off.
I applied for a job at Line-x. The franchise manager told me that the Line-x application has UV inhibiters in the polymer, they can also color match to any vehicle color code, as long as it's a flat color.

I was searching around the forum and came across this thread so I thought a pic of my rig was in order for future searchers. I went with Line X after looking at it and Rhino finished products. Rhino can get a milky color when wet. The Line X is easy to care for and always looks great. I did the flares only:

Your Tacoma looks pretty good with the Line-Xed flares. Did you have it done in Denver? (I recall seeing one place near Larimer and Park Ave.) How long ago did you have the Line-X applied?
