LJ for Overland

One of my daily drivers is a 2006 LJ with a little over 100,000 miles on it. I do like it. I cruises well at 80, it is noisy but not as bad as the ranger.

It can have a wobble issue but balance, rotation, and is all else fails tire replacement solves the issue. It is on its third set of tires and may get new ones in the near future, these will end up on the ranger.

I have not regretted not getting the rubicon.

Even when riding with chunked-out 35's, @ 80mph it's stable, large part due to Currie's CE-9102K frontend housing kit. Also firmed up steering eliminating that POS rubber coupler on steering shaft.

Same...er well mine is a TJ rather than a LJ but I'm within 400 or so miles of 60k. I had a $25k offer back around when it had 48k+ miles from one guy but I refused. I'm not going to sell something that I'd immediately regret

I regret thinking it...

You guys with LJ Rubicons are making me lust for a new Jeep. Anyone interested in selling their LJ should contact me.

I don't often quote my own posts, but in this case I couldn't resist.

After a six month search for the right LJ Rubicon I found mine in Southern California last June:

This is the Jeep I will never sell. Always wanted a Scrambler but hated the rear overhang and would have needed to correct that, well Jeep did that for me with the LJ. I love the room inside especially since I don't need to run the rear seat. The Gr8Tops Safari Top is hands down best looking and functioning top for the TJ/LJ as it allows for more room inside and the ability to run a roof rack supported by the roof. Mine is an auto which gave me the option of running the Rubicrawler reduction box without affecting driveshaft length and gives me many more options for low range as the factory 4-1 for me is too low for most of what I do. I have the Dodge truck air bags in the rear springs to help with the bottoming out over bumps. The 31.5 gallon Genrite tank is almost too pretty to put under the Jeep, but the range increase makes it so worth it. I either need to repaint my old cheap bumpers or get/build some newer quality ones, I'm leaning more and more towards building new ones. The extra length in the wheelbase even came in handy when selecting a place to mount the air tank. It fit perfectly behind the transfer case bolted to the rear floor. It will need a small skid plate extension but is otherwise well protected. The ride of the LJ is the best ride of any Jeep I have owned and long trips are easy at least for me and the wife. The speed, well if I was in a hurry I wouldn't be driving a Jeep in the first place.
