Looking good man, gorgeous scenery up there. I want a cabin like that...sigh.

Haha the venerable angle brackets from home-depot...I use the same for my awning except I haven't used my awning much. When I have 1000lbs of other crap to carry it's the one thing I leave at home as being pure luxury.

Nice pics! Did you find any of the campgrounds on that road? I've always wanted to go to the Crazies but like you said, access is limited.

Thanks man. Yeah I love the mountains out here. This particular range was totally new to me, I had never checked them out before. I hope to see more of them.

Haha those brackets came in the box. If they hadn't, I would have done the Home Depot thing. That's too bad, because I love my awning. I've used it plenty of times since I got it.

Thanks! Yep, I found two of them. The one at the end of the road is pretty good. It's a paid, developed campground, but the views are really good and there's a hiking trail or two nearby. I'm still investigating other ways to get in there.

Did a short little hike this afternoon. Took the opportunity to grab some nice photos, but we got turned around by snow before we got too far. Can't wait to do this trail once everything is melted.

Truck is performing flawlessly except for a hood latch rattle. I adjusted the catch mechanism downwards and wrapped the hook in electrical tape. Seemed to firm it right up and it's nice and quiet now. I have ordered some lighting and electrical stuff that should be here soon. :)

Also got a chance to snap a shot of the awning light at night. Nice and bright!

This light is awesome. More than bright enough, and it throws the light seriously far. I can read a novel about 100 feet away. I'm impressed.

Got a little bit of work done last night.

I had ordered and bought a bunch of materials for doing the accessory wiring for fogs, off road lights, and the air compressor. I got most of it yesterday, so I set to fiddling. I got a Hella relay box to keep all my relays neat and tidy, which I installed next to the Blue Sea fuse block.

Since I had it on the bench, I ran all the power and ground wires to the fuse block. I then cleaned up the wiring a bit and added some wire loom to keep it tidy. I am really happy with how it turned out. It looks really clean and close to factory-ish.

By the way, these Hella relays are ridiculously well made. They are heavy in the hand. I'm really impressed with them.

I also bought and installed the ARB fog lights, made by IPF. They're not wired yet, as I didn't have the switches handy.

While I was at it, I decided to finally hook up those pesky in-bumper marker lights from ARB. They require you to tap into the existing marker lights, which are a combo blinker/marker light on these trucks. You only have to tap into 3 wires, and they give you t-taps to do it. But I hate t-taps, so I just cut the wires and re-connected them with butt connectors, one wire going in one side and two going out the other. I've done this in the past and it works pretty well if you do it right. I got it all hooked up and heat shrunk, and went to take a test drive. The marker lights were working great.

I had tested the flashers with the engine off and they worked fine. But when I started the engine and drove around the block, the flashers would only blink once and then stop. I thought about it a little overnight and remembered that the flasher speed is dictated by the amount of load on the system. I recalled several incidents where people put LEDs in their flashers and got super fast blinking. So I went to O'reilly this morning and bought some LED replacements for the ARB turn signal bulbs. Popped them in, started the truck, and voila! Flashers are working perfectly.

Overall I'm happy with how this all turned out. Excited to wire in the fogs and add driving lights!

Looks awesome Wreck! One thing I regret is not getting the Ironman Awning over the ARB unit. At the time no one had any left in stock... :( That lighting is just awesome.

Had the same problem with the blinkers.

Get it sorted out? Weird that this isn't something ARB would cover in the install instructions.

Thanks Richard!

Yeah I'm really happy with the Ironman awning. That little LED strip is sweet, I couldn't ask for a better camp light.

Congrats on the new stuff! Your truck is really looking great ... I tip my hat at your attention to detail, it shows.

I, like many, am quite partial to the look of a pickup with a Softopper/CanBack/similar, but yours with the cap really works well ... especially since you got the paintwork done and awning installed.

I don't have my truck back from Hefty yet...the wait is excruciating!! Nisstec has the led bulbs, I'll pick them up when the trucks done. Let us know when the get the fogs wired up, I'd love to know what you think of them.
