Some years ago I did a 12,000 miles tour around the USA and into Canada on a Honda XL175 trail bike with knobbly tyres. Those 175cc's got a workout but I'm a mechanically sympathetic rider and didn't flog it so it never had any issues, started every time and the only problem I had was a puncture in California on the freeway and I only had to wait 10 minutes before a passing pickup stopped and loaded me on the back and took me to a nearby Honda dealer for a new tyre. Saw some amazing stuff and met SO many overwhelmingly friendly people who fed me, put me up for the night and generally went out of their way to be kind, Light bikes are great!
