Loving the LX Cruiser

I have trouble with the idea of owning a "Lexus" so we call it "The Cruiser" at home and leave the Lexus stuff on the back burner. :D

However, having had it for a week or so now I just love the thing. Have been getting to know it and how it handles before I go traipsing off into the back country. I just hope gas stays reasonably affordable over the years as I can see owning one of these until I'm too old to drive anymore.

For me, it's the perfect blend of capability and comfort and a rig I can use as my main back country camping vehicle from now on.

One nice thing about owning a Lexus, even one that's now eight years old is the service you get from Lexus USA and their dealers. I'd bought this particular rig because it had a complete service history with all of it done by the book through Lexus and one oil change from Toyota when it was out of factory warranty. I now have a copy of the entire service record thanks to Lexus and one of their dealers.

No one else is replying so I'll reply to myself. ;)

I took the truck up into the Shoshone Basin today to try it out on snowy and icy roads. Some of the roads were pretty bad but I never even had to take it out of 4 Hi. VSC came on a few times and handled things with aplomb.

These things are great! My pickup would have left me stranded (but I wouldn't have tried these roads with it anyway). The LX didn't even hiccup.

I forgot my camera. A rare thing for me to do. Too bad too because it's very pretty this time of year up there.

From the dealer's lot a couple weeks ago. When it was clean. :D

I'm not posting within the spirit of ExPo; I know I should have loaded this thread with photos. Next run I'll bring my camera and at least get some poser shots. ;)

Glad you are happy with your car. I know what it's like to be very happy with your ride, I'm currenlty in the same place with mine.

I think it was a great choice to get a Lexus, and you can call it a Land Cruiser, because it is. The little name/number badges mean nothing. :)

Ditto. I really enjoy my rig. I am sure that when I get something newer, I will go with the Lexus again. I like the extras, and I paid less than a Toyota badged LC.

Some diehards have a hard time with me calling my LX a cruiser....but I too feel like the badges mean nothing. If anything, the Lexus is more Toyota, as it has all the additional plastic and other parts attached to it! :ylsmoke:

First off, can you resize that picture? Makes it a little difficult to see, having to scroll back and forth. Easiest way to resize is to get a Photobucket account, then upload the picture onto Photobucket with the picture size automatically set to no more than 600 x 800. ;)

Second, that's a Prado, which is actually the same thing as a Lexus GX470, not an LX470. The vehicles are similar but the LX is somewhat larger than the GX.

That Prado is certainly neat - but look at that winch placement - they must use this in known areas otherwise that wart would be short lived.

You could always buy some Land Cruiser emblems off of Ebay if it would make you feel better.
Either way --as long as you are happy with your ride you could call it anything.

The thing I'm really liking is the surefootedness of the beast. We've had a bit more snow and icy roads and it's great to have something not quite as squirrely as my pickup. We were nearly hit by someone in a 4x4 pickup yesterday who was driving too fast for the conditions and slide right through a stop sign into the ditch. The Lexus was very good in maneuvering to avoid this teenage girl.
