Lr3 vs. lr4 towing

I pull at Searay 240, 26', 28' on the trailer. I need to hit a scale, but I am probably at or a little above 6000 with 60 gallons of fuel, trailer, boat, gear on board. Have 32" MTs on it. Does great. It obviously has to work a bit, and I get about 10-12mpg at best. (Doesnt help that I have sliders/rack/etc on this)

Speaking of torque, I guess that's why my 2004 Discovery never felt all that terrible just driving and even light towing. It seems like the lr3 engine got a lot more hp but not proportionally more torque. I assume more torque would help it retain a gear longer. My main experience which spoiled me is my 2008 Audi S4 Avant with the 4.2 V8. The torque comes in so low in the rpm range it's just a joy to drive.

I think a Mercedes AMG 6.3 V8 would be perfect in the Lr3 ;)

I should try that. The iidtool never jived with my truck so I gave up. I have the snap on reader that might work. The truck senses the trailer when plugged in and changes shift points slightly
Don't want to hijack the thread, but what was the problem? I can't recall any correspondence regarding an IIDTool never working on a particular vehicle.

Spotty communication. It's like it would drop out. I thought maybe it was my obd2 port but all other scanners work. So I tried the IIdtool on another lr3 and same problem. I just gave up.
